The monsters roughtly resemble trees in silhouette.

[22:17] Shadowcaller: Suddenly something is breaking the walls around the main door, huge tentacles are making their way inside.

[22:20] General Shrimp: Y'know that soft ground by the back door? The soft area gradually starts to expand along the sides. It'll take a little while, but the aim is to make the rear and sides very hard to get at, to encourage more of the demons through the front.

[22:34] Shadowcaller: Okay, the slashing sounds echo insid the inn as suddenly the celling crashes down.

[23:18] General Shrimp: "FU-!" Hector falls to the ground, landing in the middle of his ring of spikes. Good thing he didn't put one right in the middle, eh?
[23:19] Shadowcaller: (Oh, your so dead…) The tree demon tries to grab Hector with it's other tentacle as a number of monkey demons enters the room.
[23:19] Elly: "HECTOR!" Wren will try and lash the demon holding him with one of the smaller whips she'd made.
[23:20] Murska: 'Wha-' Derek heads to the hole and shoots at the tree demon with his crossbow before drawing his sword.
[23:20] General Shrimp: (Well, he was on the ladder…and it just went smash. Not much chance to dodge that really.)
"…sorry." Hector isn't about to go down without a fight. He lashes out at the tentacle grabbing at him with his pole, hoping the many pointy spikes will keep the monkey demons away.
[23:21] Shadowcaller: (Um, I'm not sure both Wren and Hector can shoot from the upper floor at the same time.)

[23:22] Shadowcaller: (Since the angle isn't that good, the hole is not that large and the whole ladder have been broken apart.)

[23:27] General Shrimp: Having somehow cut the tentacle with his pole, Hector starts opening up a second hole directly below himself. He ducks down low, pole raised protectively.

Um…the monkey gets impaled on spikes then?

[23:27] Shadowcaller: (You had a pole? GReat… lashing out sounds like you are cutting.)

[23:28] Shadowcaller: In that case you hit the tentacle, making it stunned or something.)
[23:28] General Shrimp: I did say it was with the pole though…Eh, anyway, if the monkey gets over the spikes then he just tries to keep it off him with his pole.
[23:29] Shadowcaller: And yes, the monkey demon is leaping over the spikes. You crush the monkey demons head as you are hit by another tentacle in the back, pushing you towards the spikes.
[23:30] Shadowcaller: You can see two other monkey demons trying to get past the spikes.
[23:30] General Shrimp: Well, the spikes were designed to stop things getting onto the ladder, so they point outwards and upwards, mostly. I dunno, Hector might get a few nasty scratches when he's knocked into the spikes.
[23:30] General Shrimp: The hole beneath him gets deeper and deeper. Another moment or two and he'll drop down.
[23:31] Shadowcaller: He does, the tentacle goes up again. (Drop down? To what?)
[23:31] Shadowcaller: The next move the tentacle will make is to crush him.
[23:33] General Shrimp: (Just drop down. He's opening up the earth beneath him to create a hole. It's the only escape route he has.)

As the tentacle comes down, Hector drops down into the hole he's created and curls up in it. It's not particularly deep yet, but it might be deep enough to dodge the tentacle. Not like he can do much else…

[23:34] Shadowcaller: Another tentacle is reaching up to the floor above.
