Origin Of Races

[21:07] Shadowcaller: Anyway… I had two ideas about how you get magic
[21:08] Shadowcaller: Wow o.O
[21:08] Happy: yeah
[21:08] Happy: they told her to just sing
[21:08] Happy: forget the ballet
[21:09] Murska: (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_1YM1xFK68&feature=related)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_1YM1xFK68&feature=related arguably one of the best ones and short enough that you might have time to watch it. :P
[21:10] Shadowcaller: The fact that he is acting, or is mean. Makes his good comments stand out more and carry more weight
[21:13] Happy: yeah
[21:17] Happy: one stupid thing, is that after the act, they try and interview the person right away. which if they're a dance act, means they are totally out of breath
[21:17] Happy: they should at least talk to the judges first
[21:18] Shadowcaller: Yeah…
[21:19] Happy: "How do you think you did?"
[21:19] Happy: "I…. think…. *pant pant*"
[21:19] Shadowcaller: Hey, MC is online!
[21:19] Shadowcaller: And she got the interwebz
[21:20] Happy: i don't see her
[21:20] Shadowcaller: She just posted in assassins >.>
[21:20] Shadowcaller: 11 minutes ago
[21:21] Happy: we should make Murska post there and poke her
[21:21] Happy: since he's still alive and all
[21:21] Shadowcaller: Yes, we should
[21:22] Shadowcaller: Now… your crippled wizard was very young right?
[21:25] Shadowcaller: *realizes the futility of this subject*
[21:25] Happy: dun worry, the show's almost over
[21:25] Happy: i hadn't picked her age. she can be young, if you think
[21:25] Shadowcaller: Well, I had the idea what wizards manifest different levels of magic at birth
[21:26] Shadowcaller: She could be a very rare example of a wizard that manifests huge amounts at birth
[21:26] Happy: okay
[21:26] Happy: the little girl just sang again
[21:26] Happy: blew the house down
[21:26] Shadowcaller: Hehe
[21:26] Happy: amazing
[21:33] Murska: Hm. I hope not too many people got injured.
[21:33] Murska: :P
[21:33] Shadowcaller: *sigh* you always do that
[21:33] Happy: go poke Loony
[21:34] Murska: do what?
[21:35] Shadowcaller: Insanowar?
[21:35] Shadowcaller: Picks
[21:35] Shadowcaller: ?
[21:35] Happy: she's not on msn, but she posted in assassins
[21:35] Murska: Online in gitp, too
[21:35] Murska: why must I do it? oo
[21:35] Shadowcaller: You are alive!
[21:36] Happy: we're both ded
[21:36] Shadowcaller: Also, I had some ideas about "the birth of races"
[21:36] Murska: …in Insanowar?
[21:36] Happy: yes, we're both ded in a game that hasn't started yet
[21:37] Happy: *whaps eyeball*
[21:37] Murska: Hm. I didn't pick any anti-undead stuff…
[21:37] Murska: :(
[21:37] Shadowcaller: You have anything else anti?
[21:38] Murska: *is whapped and has his already fragile self-image shattered*
[21:38] Shadowcaller: Elves comes from high fea (nymphs, satyrs and so on) and humans relationships.
[21:38] Shadowcaller: Sounds logical?
[21:38] Shadowcaller: There, she posted again!
[21:38] Murska: I guess. Although, they're usually portrayed as an 'elder race' for some reason.
[21:38] Happy: then why can't all elves hear spirits?
[21:38] Shadowcaller: In this world too?
[21:38] Shadowcaller: Hm, we never said that they can't actually
[21:39] Shadowcaller: Maybe just not very good?:P
[21:39] Shadowcaller: Okay, other ideas?
[21:39] Shadowcaller: The fact that nymphs look so human/elf can't be a conincidence
[21:40] Happy: no, if the elves can hear spirits, then half the population of gallion would be hearing mad spirits now
[21:40] Murska: Well, they're spirits = ball of lifeforce, maybe they've taken such forms.
[21:40] Happy: so we can't change that
[21:40] Happy: is Allyria elven or human?
[21:41] Shadowcaller: Elven of course
[21:41] Happy: so the only two speakers we know of are elven
[21:41] Shadowcaller: They are
[21:42] Murska: Also there haven't been any speakers on the Tree since the elves left
[21:42] Shadowcaller: Nope
[21:42] Happy: so yeah, i guess it could work.
[21:42] Happy: most elves can't hear them. it's still very rare
[21:43] Murska: The mortal races are part nature, part magic
[21:43] Murska: while the spirits are fully lifeforce = magic
[21:43] Shadowcaller: Mhm
[21:43] Murska: and rocks and such are fully nature
[21:43] Shadowcaller: Then there are the fully natural…
[21:43] Shadowcaller: There are beings enpowered by another source
[21:43] Murska: but the source is pretty much always some form of magic
[21:43] Shadowcaller: Its a different source of magic
[21:44] Murska: Well, only different sources of magic are the beings from outside Magic
[21:44] Murska: of which we know… one?
[21:44] Murska: the bukkit maker
[21:44] Murska: or whatever
[21:44] Shadowcaller: Hehe
[21:45] Shadowcaller: Eh, the mother is outside. The backstory is this: Her son (the dreamer) is forced into a eternal sleep by the dancer.
[21:45] Murska: What exactly are all of them?
[21:46] Shadowcaller: At first the dream is much like he is (completly incomprehensible)
[21:46] Shadowcaller: The mother and the dreamer are of the same "race"
[21:46] Shadowcaller: The dancer is another type of being
[21:46] Murska: All from the second plane of existance?
[21:46] Shadowcaller: Yes
[21:46] Murska: or howeverth many is above us
[21:47] Shadowcaller: Then the dream slowly got more "unreal" (for the dreamer that is) and got more what we used to
[21:47] Murska: Smaller than Magic, I guess?
[21:48] Shadowcaller: Yes
[21:48] Shadowcaller: The first races were all draconic (kobolts, dragons, lizard men)
[21:48] Murska: there are such things?
[21:48] Shadowcaller: And spirits of course
[21:48] Murska: and, of course, all that is pretty much methaphorical since we can't comprehend beings of that magnitude. :P
[21:49] Shadowcaller: Well the deep realm is the remains of the "old dream"
[21:49] Shadowcaller: Anyhow, one day the mother wanted to wake up her son again, so she entered the dream
[21:50] Shadowcaller: A great battle between her and all the spirits took place, here the great sundering took place
[21:50] Shadowcaller: The mortal realm and the spirit realm were separated
[21:50] Murska: Hmm. Lemme think up a suitable 'scientific' explanation for all this.
[21:50] Murska: Keeping to the human body metaphor…
[21:51] Shadowcaller: And the mother were sealed inside the deepest part of the mortal realm
[21:51] Murska: Magic is the body, the Mother and the Dreamer are bodyparts, Dreamer is probably some kind of a part responsible for the control of the Nature
[21:51] Happy: and is she the Watcher?
[21:51] Murska: The Dancer, on the other hand, is some kind of a disease, perhaps a virus hive-mind
[21:52] Shadowcaller: Yeah
[21:52] Shadowcaller: Also, the watcher is looking after the mother
[21:52] Shadowcaller: So she don't escape
[21:52] Happy: So who is the Watcher? One of the same 'race'?
[21:52] Shadowcaller: He is a creation of the dream, a great old spirit
[21:53] Murska: But technically it's good for us since the Dreamer being 'asleep' means that the Nature isn't being 'kept in check'
[21:53] Murska: Mother was some kind of a failsafe that also failed to prevent it
[21:53] Happy: so the dreamer created the Watcher as a way of rebelling against his mother and staying asleep?
[21:53] Shadowcaller: Well, thats more of the dancer
[21:54] Shadowcaller: The dreamer is unaware of all this
[21:54] Shadowcaller: He just dreams
[21:54] Happy: even in your dreams, you still have some volition
[21:54] Shadowcaller: And the dancer twists his dreams
[21:54] Happy: look up lucid dream in wiki
[21:55] Shadowcaller: Hm, its possible that he have some control then
[21:55] Murska: Motivations for all these: Mother, Dreamer are parts of Magic, but not parts of Nature, wanting to keep it alive. Nature was originally just an energy-gathering thing, kept in perfect order, the ecosystems in balance and ever-growing. Nowadays the world doesn't grow anymore since the Dreamer is asleep.
[21:56] Murska: Dancer, on the other hand, wants to stay alive, not a part of Magic nor a part of Nature. Maybe a parasitic thing?
[21:56] Shadowcaller: Yeah
[21:56] Shadowcaller: He "can't be seen"
[21:56] Happy: what would happen to the dancer if the dreamer woke?
[21:56] Shadowcaller: He would die I think
[21:56] Murska: Consisting of a lot of the 'bukkitmaker' type things creating a hivemind?
[21:57] Murska: He'd be attacked by the immune system if he were detected
[21:57] Shadowcaller: Yes, basically
[21:58] Shadowcaller: Anyway, the mother then created different types of creature to free her, creatures that could control magic
[21:58] Happy: the little girl made it to the finals
[21:58] Shadowcaller: Yay!
[21:59] Happy: which is tomorrow
[21:59] Happy: and then i'll be done watching tv for months
[21:59] Shadowcaller: ^^
[22:00] Shadowcaller: Err… sorry if I go straight back… these creatures were the ancestors of humans and dwarves (possibly elves)
[22:00] Shadowcaller: But all of them could use magic, and used to to battle the spirits
[22:00] Shadowcaller: *used it
[22:01] Shadowcaller: Howeverm they were soon also twisted by the dream and changed
[22:01] Shadowcaller: *however
[22:01] Shadowcaller: To what we know today…
[22:02] Shadowcaller: Some of them stayed near the mother thought, deep down under the sea and earth…
[22:03] Murska: Also explains why they don't survive without the shell of Nature given to them. The mother took things of Nature, creating lifeforce for Magic, like plants and animals, and combined their style of a lifeforce-generating shell of Nature into a form that was self-aware and could control magic, taking these from Spirits and twisting them somewhat to fit the form.
[22:03] Shadowcaller: Yes, exactly
[22:04] Happy: don't forget to put this stuff on the wiki
[22:04] Murska: Now that we know what the world is and how did it come to be like that, what about we zoom in the perspective to historical happenings and what the world is like nowadays. :P
[22:04] Shadowcaller: So, there are still a few dragons, kobolds and lizardmen in the world but all of them are deeply hateful toward all other races
[22:04] Shadowcaller: Well coming to that…
[22:05] Murska: I mean, we shouldn't be capable of doing anything that would in any way change what'd happen eventually in the confrontation of the three beings
[22:05] Shadowcaller: The first real empire was the one of the elves, but it co-eixted with the kobold empire
[22:05] Shadowcaller: *existed
[22:05] Shadowcaller: The kobolds leaders were dragons
[22:06] Shadowcaller: And they hated the elves and all other non-draconic races
[22:06] Shadowcaller: So, that was the start of the dragon war
[22:07] Shadowcaller: The dragons lost however and were with their servitors the kobolds almost wiped out
[22:07] Murska: Oddly enough… This brings to mind the possibility that actually the Wolfen were the first race created by the Mother
[22:07] Murska: most like the Natural shell used
[22:07] Shadowcaller: Hm, yeah
[22:07] Murska: Do we have evidence of any Wolfen using magic thus far?
[22:07] Murska: Cuz we could make them incapable
[22:07] Murska: thus they never fought the spirits
[22:07] Shadowcaller: Yes, but its extremly rare
[22:08] Shadowcaller: Like, one in a billion >.>
[22:08] Murska: Product of crossbreeding between races
[22:08] Shadowcaller: Mhm, the only one we met was a part of Helios
[22:08] Shadowcaller: She despited her own race…
[22:09] Murska: It's like we planned this all along? :P
[22:09] Shadowcaller: Yes, of course:P
[22:09] Murska: Explains why she wasn't bound by the wolfen traditions either
[22:09] Murska: maybe just a hint of human blood?
[22:09] Shadowcaller: Mhm, she was covered in a hooded cloak
[22:10] Shadowcaller: So its possible she didn't want show something
[22:10] Murska: it could also be a genetic thing surfaced from far away in her ancestry
[22:10] Shadowcaller: Yeah, now how did the elves come to be?
[22:10] Murska: something like a 1/64th human
[22:11] Murska: Elves… I call just another race, the one most like spirits and least like the Natural shell
[22:11] Murska: Most capacity for magic, least physical
[22:11] Murska: Lasts longer because they don't use up their Nature-shell so much
[22:12] Shadowcaller: Make sense I guess
[22:12] Shadowcaller: The nymphs then?
[22:12] Shadowcaller: Why do they look elven?
[22:12] Murska: Spirits who've taken that form?
[22:13] Happy: elves who've abandoned their forms?
[22:13] Murska: Heh. Also works.
[22:13] Murska: or the Mother's attempt at using even less Nature
[22:13] Murska: and ending up with pretty much none at all
[22:13] Murska: hence the name Nature Spirits
[22:13] Shadowcaller: Yeah
[22:14] Shadowcaller: The dranoic races…
[22:14] Shadowcaller: Since they were made before all the other races, should they be special somehow?
[22:14] Murska: Products of the Dream instead of the Mother?
[22:14] Shadowcaller: Yeah
[22:15] Shadowcaller: I don't think they can use magic
[22:15] Shadowcaller: Dragons can do it somehow thought…
[22:15] Murska: They'd be like humans of real world, animals evolved to very intelligent level instead of specifically created 'mortal races'
[22:15] Murska: Dragons… maybe some sort of a thing where a draconic creature is combined with a spirit
[22:15] Murska: thus rare
[22:16] Shadowcaller: There are dragon gods
[22:16] Shadowcaller: And they can become liches
[22:16] Murska: Dragons who gather magic, like elves/humans/whatever
[22:16] Shadowcaller: (Guess why Artari don't show him so much?;))
[22:18] Murska: So, the draconic races are 'animals' in the meaning of the word used to differentiate from specifically created 'mortal' races, they're 'natural shells' who've reached a high level of skill and intelligence. Dragons are something that happens when, maybe via a ritual of sorts?, a Kobold or somesuch is combined with a spirit
[22:18] Shadowcaller: Yeah
[22:18] Shadowcaller: Yosei is a dragon spirit for example
[22:19] Murska: now go write all this in the wiki :P
[22:19] Shadowcaller: Lets see… more "current" world building…
[22:19] Murska: We could write two different perspectives of the world
[22:19] Happy: just plop the log in
[22:19] Murska: the 'scientific' one and the 'legend' one
[22:19] Murska: Which use different metaphors for the same thing
[22:20] Shadowcaller: The few remaning (still mortalish) dragons have basically been reduced to pure killing machines
[22:21] Murska: I didn't go to sleep after all, then. :P
[22:22] Murska: brb shower
[22:22] Shadowcaller: (Link: http://bukucomics.com/loserz/go/179)http://bukucomics.com/loserz/go/179
[22:23] Happy: that was mean :(
[22:23] Shadowcaller: >.>
[22:24] Shadowcaller: I was really scared too…
[22:24] Shadowcaller: Sorry:(
[22:24] Happy: *whaps SC*
[22:24] Shadowcaller: I was looking for something else and found that >.<
[22:25] Happy: at least it wasn't 2am. My upstairs neighbors would not have been pleased
[22:25] Happy: since their bedroom is above our lounge
[22:25] Shadowcaller: Oh… 8-)
[22:33] Shadowcaller: Hm…
[22:33] Happy: oh… i was supposed to write an update…
[22:33] Shadowcaller: >.>
[22:33] Shadowcaller: Right…
[22:37] Shadowcaller: …
[22:37] Murska: b
[22:37] Shadowcaller: This was what I was looking for
[22:37] Shadowcaller: Remember, this is EXTREMLY disturbing
[22:37] Shadowcaller: (Link: http://kdingo.net/champ/pics/main.php?g2_itemId=5259)http://kdingo.net/champ/pics/main.php?g2_itemId=5259
[22:38] Murska: stupid link, SC… I was trying to read the comic and then the text bubbles went away >.>
[22:38] Shadowcaller: I warn you >.>
[22:38] Murska: More disturbing than Rotten?
[22:38] Shadowcaller: (Link: http://kdingo.net/champ/pics/main.php?g2_itemId=5336)http://kdingo.net/champ/pics/main.php?g2_itemId=5336
[22:39] Shadowcaller: The end of it
[22:39] Shadowcaller: Well, I think its very disturbing at least:P
[22:40] Murska: Hm.
[22:40] Murska: O'well. I'm too cold-hearted. :P
[22:40] Murska: Anyway, total, at least 90% reworkage of the lyrics is in order
[22:40] Murska: maybe I can make them halfway decent
[22:40] Murska: *BALEET TIME*
[22:41] Shadowcaller: Good Luck with that
[22:41] Murska: They'll probably look worse but maybe work better as a song.
