Nigmas Story

MrEdwardNigma säger:
hi
Shadowcaller säger:
Hello
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I'm actually at home and healthy tonight
Shadowcaller säger:
Long sickness eh?
MrEdwardNigma säger:
well, sick enough to stay at home but healthy enough to function
MrEdwardNigma säger:
sickness and other stuff, yes
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I was just sick for a week
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I've been sick longer plenty
Shadowcaller säger:
Thats the kind of sick I want to be now…
Shadowcaller säger:
I could use the extra homework
MrEdwardNigma säger:
off course you don't
MrEdwardNigma säger:
you want to be healthy
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I'm not skipping classes sick
Shadowcaller säger:
True
MrEdwardNigma säger:
so, game tonight?
Shadowcaller säger:
Maybe, I can ask Murska (he is the GM after all)
Shadowcaller säger:
He will be right back
Shadowcaller säger:
I might play in your story a bit, since it has stayed dead for so long and happy is not here
MrEdwardNigma säger:
where would you come from???
Shadowcaller säger:
Well, with another character that is
Shadowcaller säger:
I can just die when not needed anymore
MrEdwardNigma säger:
ah
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I can ahrdly remember where I was
MrEdwardNigma säger:
with the wizard, i think
Shadowcaller säger:
Yeah, you fell asleep
MrEdwardNigma säger:
for a loooooong time
Shadowcaller säger:
Hehe, well we could either said you stayed there or try to play really fast time-wise so you catch up with us
Shadowcaller säger:
We have mostly been RP'ing anyway
MrEdwardNigma säger:
good, since I'm alone I'll catch up fast
MrEdwardNigma säger:
hardly any rp when you're alone
Shadowcaller säger:
Indeed
Shadowcaller säger:
Now if just Murska could be back…
Shadowcaller säger:
Otherwise I could GM you I guess
MrEdwardNigma säger:
that's good
Shadowcaller säger:
Well techincally I already had some ideas of what was going on there so
Shadowcaller säger:
GM wise that is
MrEdwardNigma säger:
are you folks still on the cloud anyways?
Shadowcaller säger:
We are, its much bigger then you expect really
Shadowcaller säger:
First we came to that town we ended in same session you did
Shadowcaller säger:
That one with the barracks and stuff
MrEdwardNigma säger:
uhu
Shadowcaller säger:
The one you walked pass when you entered the stone forest
Shadowcaller säger:
Anyway, then we moved to some other town (nothing special happend really)
Shadowcaller säger:
We have had one singel encounter in all these sessions
MrEdwardNigma säger:
ah, how the game lacks theatrics and drama when I'm not around
Shadowcaller säger:
Hehe, yeah
Shadowcaller säger:
Everyone is so nice now

Shadowcaller säger:
Anyway, we faced some bandits we killed easily
MrEdwardNigma säger:
obviously
Shadowcaller säger:
I have recovered my memory
Shadowcaller säger:
Or some of it at least
MrEdwardNigma säger:
aha
MrEdwardNigma säger:
could you sum it up so it doesn't interfere with mine?
MrEdwardNigma säger:
cause that would be a major plot hole
Shadowcaller säger:
Well I left the part when we meet out
Shadowcaller säger:
I have mostely talked about the stuff that happend before that
Shadowcaller säger:
*mostly
Shadowcaller säger:
So you can make up that section if you want
MrEdwardNigma säger:
you left the party?
MrEdwardNigma säger:
ah, right
MrEdwardNigma säger:
so I can tell you about Nigma's memory?
Shadowcaller säger:
Yeah
MrEdwardNigma säger:
right
MrEdwardNigma säger:
it's a bit sketchy, since it's been a while
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and I'll have to pull up the log of when he got his memroy back
MrEdwardNigma säger:
could you link the wiki?
Shadowcaller säger:
Sure
Shadowcaller säger:
http://whisperingworm.wikidot.com/the-story
Shadowcaller säger:
I warn you, its all very confusing
Shadowcaller säger:
We need to rewrite those logs in a better format
MrEdwardNigma säger:
yeah
MrEdwardNigma säger:
so, back to front?
Shadowcaller säger:
Hm?
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the past
MrEdwardNigma säger:
back to front is fine, no?
Shadowcaller säger:
Sure
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Okay, so there was this demon
MrEdwardNigma säger:
big, bad, perhaps evil
MrEdwardNigma säger:
certainly pissed off
Shadowcaller säger:
(that we don't know the identity of)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
that's where his memory dissappeared, and that of happy and cessie
Shadowcaller säger:
Yeah
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Murska's remains unexplained
Shadowcaller säger:
He got his memory^^
MrEdwardNigma säger:
though he probably met the same fate at some point, seeing as how he shared at least two curses
Shadowcaller säger:
Hm, yeah
MrEdwardNigma säger:
anyways, this demon was a guardian
Shadowcaller säger:
okay
MrEdwardNigma säger:
it had a reason to be angry at the three adventurers
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they were proud, and had ventured into the temple he warded (where the game started) to attain a powerful artifact
MrEdwardNigma säger:
at thsi point in time, two of the adventurers already possessed their own artifact with a relation to the third they were seeking
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a rock and a stick
Shadowcaller säger:
Mhm
MrEdwardNigma säger:
this, however, wasn't common knowledge
MrEdwardNigma säger:
as nice and chatty as cessie might have been, Nigma was not
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he was a bit of an intrigant
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they liked him, sure, but it was all smoke and mirrors
Shadowcaller säger:
(Meh I wasn't chatty back then either)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he was a thief at heart, who didn't connect to anyone
MrEdwardNigma säger:
well, you didn't need to be, because he knew about the stone without your help
MrEdwardNigma säger:
it was the very reason he had joined the party
Shadowcaller säger:
Also the stone apparently have some connection to wizard bloodlines
Shadowcaller säger:
In Murskas story
Shadowcaller säger:
But go on
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I'm getting to it
MrEdwardNigma säger:
three months earlier
MrEdwardNigma säger:
an inn
Shadowcaller säger:
Let me invite Murska…
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"The Duke's Head", a somewhat disreputable place but certainly cheap
MrEdwardNigma säger:
sure
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Two adventurers sit at a table. Women. A third sits at the bar. He's… waiting for something.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The two at the table are a barbarian and a mage, cessie and happy
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they seem close
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the third at the bar is a complete stranger to them
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he bought them drinks the night before, but today he did not join themp
Shadowcaller säger:
Hehe, you sneaky bastard
Shadowcaller säger:
(can you invite murska? he is offline to me)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He's dressed in green and white and feels somewhat uncomfortable, being used to wearing almost all black
MrEdwardNigma säger:
but he copes
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and almost smiles when the inndoors smash open
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cornelius Thornbaugh, the only man Nigma would have ever described as a friend, though business associate was probably more accurate

Aegnor har lagts till i konversationen.

MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cornelius now, he and Nigma go way back, but more of that later. Right now he's here on a business call, and he's pretending not to know Nigma. He's good at pretending, that Cornelius. He's a conman. A cheat. But he's also well-built, and not alone.
Aegnor säger:
hai
MrEdwardNigma säger:
By his side are four large men, hired muscle
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(hi)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Sounds intresting)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The muscle has been told only what they need to know. "This here is The Duke's Head, the innkeep holds a strongbox under the bar, and we're taking it"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma was counting on his future "friends" to be slightly more heroic than he would have been
Shadowcaller säger:
(happy and Cessie that is)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The innkeep went down fast, a single blow sending him flying through his own precious mirror.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The club behind the bar didn't even experience any use. Most of the clientele fled, but two people stayed behind. brave and heroic people. Wait, make that three, the third less heroic.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He, off course, knew they were in no actual danger.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
THOUGHT they were in no actual danger
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cornelius might have thought this through better
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma didn't move when one of the musclemen approached and took a swing to the gut, punching hsi breath right out of him
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The girls, recognising both the man who'd been charitable towards them the night before and the clear robbery going on, jumped up
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Then the brawl ensued
MrEdwardNigma säger:
it was brief, but rough
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and in war alliances are forged
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cornelius and his men were sent packing by the three brave enough not to flush out of the bar like rats at the slightest sign of trouble
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and from there on, they travelled together
Shadowcaller säger:
(Thats better then anything I could have come up with)
Shadowcaller säger:
(What happend in the cave then?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Okay, I was going to go further back, but let's fast forward to the ending once more
Shadowcaller säger:
(Ahh okay)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The three brave ones were standing by the cave, scathed
MrEdwardNigma säger:
their clothes were torn, and they were unarmed
MrEdwardNigma säger:
all they'd been able to hold onto were their magical items (or as Nigma called it "his walking stick")
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and some provisions
MrEdwardNigma säger:
They'd had to defend the items with their lives, and almost lost both
Shadowcaller säger:
(The bukkit then?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(that they lost, in the struggle)
Shadowcaller säger:
(okay)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
( getting to that, next flashback)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
anyways, Nigma checks the map once more and then crumples it up in his hand and tosses it in the bushes
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"You won't belive this guys, but we actually made it"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he laughed
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"This is actually the temple. We're here"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"Guess it's not such a bad day after all, eh?"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he smiled
Shadowcaller säger:
(could I ask what tempel in character?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Happy looked like she could almost punch him
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(nah, cause you already know)
Shadowcaller säger:
(well… ah nevermind)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
They entered, the three of them
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Happy wandered off aimlessly, on her own, as if she didn't really care anymore about the maginificent treasures they'd come to seek
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"This place looks empty" she said, to no-one in particular
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"It's not" Nigma said to the large empty room they were in. his voice bounced off the walls
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"You're missing the obvious"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He pointed out the torch on the wall
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"The third artifact, hidden in plain sight"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He grinned
Shadowcaller säger:
(Ths stick of silence)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"This one is obviously mine. You got the last one, Happy, and you already have one, Cessie"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(nope, he alreayd has the stick. His "walking stick")
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(this is the torch, the only item that was present in the cave)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Oh, so its a fourth artifact)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(or a fifth, if you count the kazoo. It's the fourth at the time, but only Nigma knew about the stick)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma's greedy hand reached out for the torch, and as his fingers touched it, the light in the room flickered, and a huge, terrifying demon appeared
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(I assume you know what happens next?)
Shadowcaller säger:
(The demons shows up and curses us?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(yeah)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well then we pretty much got out backstory covered, except the part aobut happy and I meet but that we will take with her.)
Shadowcaller säger:
*about
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(not quite through yet. Two more flashbacks with you guys in it)
Shadowcaller säger:
Okay, go ahead
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Earlier. A road.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Five figures walking down it, to a sure destination.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"I just can't believe how lucky we are" Nigma said
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cessie smiled
MrEdwardNigma säger:
yeah, they'd been lucky
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they'd been able to hire two carriers with the money they made, which they needed to haul around all their new stuff
MrEdwardNigma säger:
They were young, and from the farms, but eager to work anywhere else than on the fields, and certainly in the company of these "heroes"
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well it works with my backstory so just go on
)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
to them they must have been like Titans, like the very stuff legends were made of
MrEdwardNigma säger:
then again, anyone with these amount of money would have been welcomed in their village Styr Laug like kings.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
A full week they'd spent there, until they finally got sick of sitting around and their palms itched for actions
Shadowcaller säger:
(I think I knew the identity of the demon now, but never mind that, continue.)
Shadowcaller säger:
*know
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the second map was a reason to keep moving. A goal.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(you do? Cause I don't)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(I thought he was a random guardian)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well not in character of course)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(so who is he?)
Shadowcaller säger:
(A god)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(…)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(that's just another word for demon)
Shadowcaller säger:
(exactly)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well I got a name for him/her but lets go on)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma grinned, but the smile froze on his face as something in the bushes twinged
Aegnor säger:
(Hm. Well, depends on which definition of god is used. Since gods aren't magical perversions while those are sometimes called demons.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Really, its depending on what god you serve, if you are faithful to one every other god is a demon.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Several men rose.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
There were ten of them, all with crossbows
Shadowcaller säger:
(damn bandits…)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The tenth was what surprised Nigma most
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cornelius Thornbaugh
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma stammered, and sunk to his knees
MrEdwardNigma säger:
something collapsed inside of him
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"I found out what you were doing" Cornelius said, seemingly to the whole group, but really to Nigma
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"You're collecting them. Getting there fast too. Three items already? That must be some sort of record"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Everyone else just assumed Cornelius meant the item they were so close to picking up with the third
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma almost burst into tears, but instead his muscles tensed
MrEdwardNigma säger:
when part of a man's personality collapses, something has to fill the void
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He darted at those ten men, faster than arrows
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he darted at Cornelius, in particular
MrEdwardNigma säger:
no-one had seen it coming
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they all fired
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and the party knew big crossbows like that were slow to reload
MrEdwardNigma säger:
one of the carriers slumped down, an arrow dug deep into his chest
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"Jonas!" his brother shouted, grabbing the poor dead kid in his arms
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he cradled him
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Happy saw it happening in the corner of her eye, but she ahd to move. She couldn't stick around and be sentimental. If she didn't do anything both boys would die
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they'd all die
MrEdwardNigma säger:
if only that boy hadn't said his name. Jonas. She'd hear that forever now, in her dreams.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he died for their greed
MrEdwardNigma säger:
for her inability to protect him
MrEdwardNigma säger:
she cut into the bandits' ranks
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Cessie followed up with a spell
MrEdwardNigma säger:
there was blood
MrEdwardNigma säger:
there was shouting
MrEdwardNigma säger:
crying
Shadowcaller säger:
(still here, just so you know
)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
( good. Comments are welcome any time)
Shadowcaller säger:
(I think its very good this far)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
eventually those that hadn't engaged had been able to reload
MrEdwardNigma säger:
stupid
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they should have run
MrEdwardNigma säger:
too late now
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Happy was cutting them down as fast as she could, but she couldn't be everywhere at once
MrEdwardNigma säger:
she'd taken down two
MrEdwardNigma säger:
cessie one
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma was still pounding Cornelius' face with his hands, havind lost his five daggers to the man's gut
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Revenge. Not so much for the betrayal, but for the world being what it was.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The carrier was crying
MrEdwardNigma säger:
weeping
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"we have to run" Cessie said
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a common tactic for a mage, but she was right
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Happy nodded and ran towards the boy
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"go!" she shouted at them, and then went to Nigma, tearing him away from the dead man
MrEdwardNigma säger:
she couldn't help everyone at once
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma was running now
MrEdwardNigma säger:
cessie too
MrEdwardNigma säger:
long gone
MrEdwardNigma säger:
another salvo fired and happy snatched up the boy who'd been frozen to the ground ever since his brother died
MrEdwardNigma säger:
she ran, until she caught up with the others
MrEdwardNigma säger:
only to then find out the boy was dead
MrEdwardNigma säger:
hit by an arrow before she even got to him
Shadowcaller säger:
(Remember that acid sea)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Since we lost the bukkit there)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
They were at a lake
MrEdwardNigma säger:
horrible fumes rose from the water
MrEdwardNigma säger:
well, it probably wasn't water
MrEdwardNigma säger:
in the distance there was shouting
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a quick calculation reminded them there were six left
MrEdwardNigma säger:
which was still two to one
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well, at least we don't have that high power level)
Shadowcaller säger:
(I hate when common people are a walk over.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(hardly common people these guys Probably thieves guild or the like)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Hmm okay)
Aegnor säger:
(Realistically, common people are a walk over. )
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they were closing in
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(realistically, there are no other people)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well, "normal" people was more what I meant)
Aegnor säger:
(Highly trained soldiers > civilians)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the party crouched down in the bushes hoping, praying that they wouldn't be found
Shadowcaller säger:
(So you don't need super-demons every time you need to challenge the party.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(course not)
Aegnor säger:
(That is easily achieved by cutting out hitpoints. )
Aegnor säger:
(Any hit can kill.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well, the demons in this world are magical perversions, so they don't really die when you cut their heads off)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
their prayers were answered, though in the strangest way
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I suppose the gods have a strange sense of humour
MrEdwardNigma säger:
wolves
Aegnor säger:
(Demons > normal weapons. Duh.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(mhm)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a whole pack of them
MrEdwardNigma säger:
enough to drive the bandits away
MrEdwardNigma säger:
but they couldn't move
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they had to stay where they were
Aegnor säger:
(Weird wolves. )
Shadowcaller säger:
(maybe werewolves?)
Aegnor säger:
(Indeed. Normal wolves would never approach humans.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(why weird?)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Or dire wolves or something.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(just feral, I guess)
Aegnor säger:
(Even if hungry, attacking a large group of armed people? )
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(there's, like, lots of them. Lots)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Yeah… lets say they were some fantasy breed of wolves.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(and they're not attacking… yet)
Aegnor säger:
(Still. Wolves fear humans and avoid them. Let's just continue)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(and mages don't exist. Let's nto nitpick)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
anyways, don't feel like discribing the next bit, so there's a fight with some wolves and they almost get torn to bits
Shadowcaller säger:
(So, dire wolves^^)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
manage to escape with two items and bits of their clothes
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and the map
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they happen to end up at the cave
MrEdwardNigma säger:
further back
MrEdwardNigma säger:
last flashback with you guys in it
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well Murska weren't in any of those.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(But lets see the last one)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(murska was met in-game )
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma had been hanging around with them for a month now
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they'd… pretty much gotten nowhere
MrEdwardNigma säger:
stopped some petty criminals, beat up some thugs, saved some women from violent huspands
MrEdwardNigma säger:
most of it didn't even involve payment
MrEdwardNigma säger:
if they were lucky they were bought some beers
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma was the only one who still had a thick purse, but only because he'd started out with one
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he'd been prepared
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he knew that he couldn't run out of money, or he'd have to steal some, and he knew they wouldn't like that
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well I would not have approved with that)
Shadowcaller säger:
(If I had know that is)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(obviously. Which is why he'd come prepared)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Even now, they were helping someone
MrEdwardNigma säger:
free of charge
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a wagon of some local magician or snake-oil salesman had lost a wheel, and simply because they were passing by it was their duty to help replace it
MrEdwardNigma säger:
not that the old man to who the wagon belonged did anything to help
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Happy lifted the wagon and Nigma had to place the new wheel
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the mage wasn't much help either
MrEdwardNigma säger:
nor practically skilled, apparently
Shadowcaller säger:
(I dwell in this that would drive you mad, MAD!)
Shadowcaller säger:
(…lets move on)
Shadowcaller säger:
*things
MrEdwardNigma säger:
when the wheel was finally replaced Nigma sagged down at the side of the road
Shadowcaller säger:
(Invite happy?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(sure)

Happy har lagts till i konversationen.

MrEdwardNigma säger:
The salesman, or magician, or whatever he was, exited the wagon with refreshments
MrEdwardNigma säger:
lemonade
Shadowcaller säger:
(Nigma is telling us his epic backstory)
Shadowcaller säger:
(We better save this one on the wiki)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the lemonade was tepid, but nonetheless the three drank it all in one gulp
Happy säger:
hi
Aegnor säger:
hi
Shadowcaller säger:
(You killed Murska in S.E.U. atleast^^ But lets listen to Nigmas story now.)
Aegnor säger:
(Forums are ded. Also, Happy, noooo. I'm avenging this in Kaos.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"You know" the salesman said, as he looked at the three, "I may have an interesting deal for you"
Happy säger:
(neener neener)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they were sceptic
MrEdwardNigma säger:
especially Nigma
MrEdwardNigma säger:
but eventually the salesman came up with two maps
MrEdwardNigma säger:
What surprised them was the little print at the top
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"Treasures of the Small Gods"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The small gods
MrEdwardNigma säger:
what they'd been looking for
MrEdwardNigma säger:
what Nigma had been looking for, at least, but the words were familiar to Cessie as well
MrEdwardNigma säger:
She pulled the rock out of her pocket and stared at it
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma stared too
MrEdwardNigma säger:
A month, and he hadn't been able to lift it. The mage kept it too close at all times, and he couldn't exactly come anywhere near her when she was taking a bath
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He'd been trying to seduce her, but charming as he was he wasn't people person
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he didn't quite get other people and relationships
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Never had any friends as a kid
Shadowcaller säger:
(You dirty dog…)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
maybe never after as well
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well Cessie is *almost* celibate)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"We need to buy these maps" Cessie decided
Happy säger:
(I guess I need to come up with Happy's backstory at some point)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
That was good. This way Nigma didn't have to push it. He didn't want to give himself away.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He suddenly realised they were staring at him.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"That will be five hundred goldpieces" the salesman said
Shadowcaller säger:
(holy crap!)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma remembered he was the only one with any money left
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he reluctanly took out his purse and loosened the string
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"a piece" the merchant said
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the skin around Nigma's knuckles whitened
MrEdwardNigma säger:
"Just take the whole purse. Keep the change" he said
Shadowcaller säger:
(you actually didn't steal it?"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The salesman smiled broadly, the kind of smile you'd see on a carsalesman when he sold you that second hand piece of crap he knew was going to break down after two weeks
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(nope. he didn't steal it. He had to stick with the group, so he couldn't afford stealing)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Yeah, but still, that was a hell lot of money for something we didn't even knew would work.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(True. I guess he must really want this)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
They moved on
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the first map struck true, leading them to them to a tomb stacked with treasure, and more importantly: the bukkit
MrEdwardNigma säger:
despite his pleas that he had paid for the maps, the bukkit was given to Happy, because, you know, she'd been with the party longer, and she really wanted that bukkit
MrEdwardNigma säger:
just her kind of thing
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he could have the next artifact
MrEdwardNigma säger:
yeah right
Shadowcaller säger:
(And now we know the story of the bukkit.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(Done with the flashbacks with you guys in it)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(in the flesh anyways)
Shadowcaller säger:
(So its solo now eh?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(Yeah. Should I continue? Should we RP briefly? Should I give some info on "the small gods"?)
Aegnor säger:
(I don't have time for much.)
Aegnor säger:
(And am sick.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(I must have infected you)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Sure, since I have already have written about the "large gods" small gods could go with the kami thought)
Shadowcaller säger:
(kami means "small gods")
MrEdwardNigma säger:
uhm…
MrEdwardNigma säger:
whatever
Shadowcaller säger:
(
)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I only write the background that is actually relevant
MrEdwardNigma säger:
anything else can be filled in later
Shadowcaller säger:
(sure, the small gods works into my lore perfectly.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(I just had another name for them)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The small gods are essentially tied to the items
MrEdwardNigma säger:
each item is related to another "small god"
Shadowcaller säger:
(Works)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the stick, for example, is tied to "the walking mountain"
MrEdwardNigma säger:
who was powerful once, sure, but is now only a small god
Shadowcaller säger:
(works I guess)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
now, these particular small gods have some sort fo relation
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a bond, between the bunch f them
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a way for them to have some power too, perhaps like the big gods
MrEdwardNigma säger:
which brings us to the items
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the items are similarly related
MrEdwardNigma säger:
they have a purpose
MrEdwardNigma säger:
together
Shadowcaller säger:
(So a old mighty god that have died out but is still tied to an item?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
it's a "collect them all" kind of thing, but collecting a lot might work too
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the items were created by the gods, but they live on without them
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I assume the Walking Mountain, if he is gone, created the item when he joined the ranks of the smaller gods, before he dissappeared
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well his physical form is still intact, but sleeping.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(I guess since he is so weakened.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(you already decided that????)
Shadowcaller säger:
(we can change that if you like^^)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(I don't see why you'd decide stuff before it comes up in game, that's all)
Shadowcaller säger:
(true)
Aegnor säger:
(To not have to decide it in-game. )
Aegnor säger:
(duh)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(that just gives us loads of stuff to keep track of, and restricts the liberty of the current GM)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Well the stuff we decides will never really touch the GM)
Shadowcaller säger:
(And the houses of magic came up in a game right Murska?)
Aegnor säger:
(yup.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(But yes, we should keep it as free as possible.)
Aegnor säger:
(Anything is retconnable. It's our setting, after all. )
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the only reason I decided this stuff is that it's IC knowledge
MrEdwardNigma säger:
extremely relevant IC knowledge
Shadowcaller säger:
Hm, well I did meet a "big god" in my backstory
Shadowcaller säger:
So thats cannon I guess
MrEdwardNigma säger:
canon
MrEdwardNigma säger:
you MET a god?
Shadowcaller säger:
Well, its a special kind of god.
Shadowcaller säger:
Not the traditonal kind
Shadowcaller säger:
he/she is basically the god of knowledge and well visits her/his worshippers from time to time
Shadowcaller säger:
Or persons that don't worship him/her at all
Shadowcaller säger:
I can still make up stuff about people I meet right?
MrEdwardNigma säger:
sure
Aegnor säger:
night people
Shadowcaller säger:
Good, lets go with that then
Shadowcaller säger:
Good night

Aegnor har lämnat konversationen.

Happy säger:
gnight
MrEdwardNigma säger:
gnight
MrEdwardNigma säger:
am I too late?
Shadowcaller säger:
For what?
MrEdwardNigma säger:
for wishing good night to aegnor
Shadowcaller säger:
Yeah, he just left
Shadowcaller säger:
But continue where you left off
MrEdwardNigma säger:
right
MrEdwardNigma säger:
we delve deeper
MrEdwardNigma säger:
into the memory of the rogue
MrEdwardNigma säger:
further back
MrEdwardNigma säger:
until we're on a limb
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a windowsill, it seems
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a string tightens
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a chunk of metal cuts through the night
MrEdwardNigma säger:
clink
MrEdwardNigma säger:
strikes true
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a line tauts
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Breaking into a church.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
It was all kinds of sacrilege
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the rogue dangled from the steel wire, and kept climbing
MrEdwardNigma säger:
This is the village beneath the clouds
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(I forget the name. We should really keep a list or something. A map maybe)
Happy säger:
(yeah, a map would be good)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(has SC uploaded the ugly paint map I sent him before his first turn?)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Saltcross was its name)
Shadowcaller säger:
(um… I have been busy)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(Right, Saltcross)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
The Saltcross church
MrEdwardNigma säger:
It wasn't the biggest church in town by far
Shadowcaller säger:
(its right to the sea)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
plenty of other gods to worship
MrEdwardNigma säger:
but a church was a church/
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Norhold, the unforgiving
MrEdwardNigma säger:
I suppose there couldn't have been a more foreboding god to intrude upon
Shadowcaller säger:
(The perfect god to steal from eh?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
But then again, he wasn't there to steal from the church
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He was there to steal what had been stolen, which only seemed fair
MrEdwardNigma säger:
A priest that stole, shame on him, even if it was in the name of his undying lord
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Gallain was his name, or so the files had read
MrEdwardNigma säger:
thieves guilds libraries had more data than any library should have
MrEdwardNigma säger:
you could find a book about your mothers sexual encounters there if you wandered down the wrong corridor
Shadowcaller säger:
(eww)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(exactly)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Gallain was devout, to say the least, and before he was an oxtogenarian priest of a small seaside town, he was a travelling paladin, an adventurer
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and a thief
MrEdwardNigma säger:
off course, it wasn't thieving when you did it in the name of your lord
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and certainly not if the victims were heathens
MrEdwardNigma säger:
of the worst kind
MrEdwardNigma säger:
cultists
MrEdwardNigma säger:
with a silent thunk Nigma bumped into the stained glass window
MrEdwardNigma säger:
He produced his cutter from one of his many pockets and proceeded to desacrate the window
MrEdwardNigma säger:
a hole big enough to let a man through
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he tightened the wire he'd used to climb in on and secured it better, and then he tied down a second wire, which he tossed down into the black that was the church
MrEdwardNigma säger:
he followed
MrEdwardNigma säger:
getting into the sacristy was easy. He coud pick a lock blindly now, so he didn't mind that the church was pitchblack
MrEdwardNigma säger:
one o' clock at night, the perfect hour for a burglary
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the door opened slowly, and he found Father Gallain waiting for him
MrEdwardNigma säger:
sleeping, in a chair in the sacristy
Shadowcaller säger:
(will hard to get any information out of him next time you met)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(If he's even still alive (he's eighty). Even then, I doubt Nigma will still need him for anything)
Shadowcaller säger:
(okay)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma had been told that Gallain never left his church anymore, wanting to be as close to his lord as he could. A religious nut, a zealot. He hadn't believed the stories, but he could hardly refute them now.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
And in his arms, the stick
MrEdwardNigma säger:
it had been manufactured into the shaft of a hammer
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the hammer being the favoured weapon of Norhold. It was why they used hammers in court. It was where the expression "hammering it in" came from.
Shadowcaller säger:

MrEdwardNigma säger:
the rogue carefully slipped the weapon out of the priest's hand
MrEdwardNigma säger:
and then Gallain's eyes popped open
MrEdwardNigma säger:
his expression one of fury and indignation
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma instantly regretted not wearing a mask
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the priest's old hand shot out at the rogue, and Nigma did the only thing he coudl think of: he hammered.
MrEdwardNigma säger:
One of Gallain's hands was smashed, shattered between the hard wood of the chair and the metal of the hammer
Shadowcaller säger:
(How popular is Norhold?)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the priest screamed, his voice filling Nigma's entire world
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(Norhold would be pretty unpopular. He's got little to offer and pretty much advocates intolerance and unforgivingness. He does not compromise, and the religion is generally considered dying)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Hmm okay.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(If Rorshach was god, he'd be Norhold)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Sounds like an intresting god at least then.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(sure, but his followers are probably to be avoided. Especially by morally ambiguous folk like Nigma)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
Nigma ran
MrEdwardNigma säger:
didn't even bother to use the ropes
MrEdwardNigma säger:
just ran out of those church doors, and onto the port
MrEdwardNigma säger:
the only other clue he had about an item was his next stop
MrEdwardNigma säger:
off course, when he got there it was too late, and some mage had taken off with it
Shadowcaller säger:
(Hmm I was royal before I met you, I was forced into exile (not that I see myself as royal thought))
Shadowcaller säger:
(Right now I'm just an adventurer.)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(how'd you get the rock?)
Shadowcaller säger:
(I did not mentione that.)
Shadowcaller säger:
(So you can make it up)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
(nah, you can. Whatever it was, Nigma got there too late, and heard from someone Cessie had the rock)
Shadowcaller säger:
(Okay)
MrEdwardNigma säger:
anyways, enough for tonight
MrEdwardNigma säger:
what's a "viral campaign", by the way?
Shadowcaller säger:
No idea really
Shadowcaller säger:
what did you hear it?
Shadowcaller säger:
*were
Shadowcaller säger:
*where
Happy säger:
a viral campaign is a marketing campaign where they try to spread the information indirectly, by word of mouth
Happy säger:
like leaking stuff to the internet and hoping it spreads, rather than paying for advertising
MrEdwardNigma säger:
thanks
