New Dys 84

[20:39] Happy [8]: We were all sitting around stunned and comforting each other
[20:39] Happy [8]: So… a little time passes. "You ready to talk to Helios?"
[20:39] Murska: 'Yeah. Let's.'
[20:40] Happy [8]: /Helios?/
[20:40] Shadowcaller: /…ah, Simone./
[20:40] Shadowcaller: /Repport./
[20:41] Happy [8]: /We make a circle./
[20:42] Shadowcaller: /If you feel it nessecary, I can't be everywhere at once./
[20:42] Happy [8]: /It is./
[20:42] Happy [8]: She makes the circle. "Helios."
[20:43] Shadowcaller: Shadows emerges from the circle, a vague shape of something humanoid can be seen shifting in the center of the circle, two red eyes focuses on Simone.
[20:44] Shadowcaller: "Yes?"
[20:46] Happy [8]: "You can have the memories straight out of my mind, on one condition."
[20:53] Shadowcaller: "Conditions? How amusing. Go ahead, enlighten me."
[20:54] Happy [8]: "After the worm is destroyed, I want your help to kill someone."

[20:57] Shadowcaller: "Kill someone? That could be a rather messy task, I'm not some assassin Simone."
[20:59] Happy [8]: "I know that. I want access to whatever information I need to make this person dead."
[20:59] Happy [8]: (Any response from Aegnor?)
[20:59] Murska: (I guess he leaves her to negotiate)
[21:01] Shadowcaller: "Let's back a step shall we? Who do you want dead? Who could have awaken such murderous rage in a otherwise so cold person?"
[21:01] Happy [8]: "That's information too."
[21:02] Shadowcaller: "Wait… so you want me to accept some type of bounty on a completely unknown person?"
[21:03] Murska: 'Well, that person is likely an enemy of yours.'
[21:04] Shadowcaller: "Likely? I want clear information here, who do you think I am?
[21:05] Murska: 'Well how much you're willing to pay for that information?'
[21:05] Shadowcaller: "Considering you are the one asking *me* to kill someone, nothing."
[21:06] Murska: 'No information then.'
[21:06] Shadowcaller: "Great, so can we end this meaningless meeting then?"

[21:07] Murska: 'Eh, I thought you wanted us to perform our mission but whatever.'
[21:07] Shadowcaller: "Yes, but I didn't really hear that this had any connection to the mission whatsoever."
[21:07] Happy [8]: "It does."
[21:07] Shadowcaller: "Ah, then tell me what it is?"
[21:08] Shadowcaller: "I'm not accepting anything until I'm fully aware of what I'm accepting."
[21:08] Happy [8]: "You get my memories of the meeting last night, and the second meeting we had with one of the wizards this morning, and in return, after our mission, you give me the information I requested."
[21:09] Shadowcaller: "In exchange that I must kill a person that you refuse to reveal the identity of?"
[21:10] Happy [8]: "No, you give me the information I need to kill them. You not have to dirty your hands."
[21:10] Shadowcaller: "Why can't you reveal the idenity of this person? If it's likely to be my enemy, I don't really see the point of secretcy."
[21:11] Happy [8]: "Fine. Her name Miranda Winterborn."
[21:13] Shadowcaller: "Miranda Winterborn? Thats one of the wizards in New Dys, high position even. WHy do you want to kill her? She's a wizard, just stab her when she sleeps or something, poison her drink."
[21:13] Happy [8]: "Do we have a deal?"
[21:14] Shadowcaller: "No, since the deal dosen't make sense. There is something you are not telling me."
[21:14] Wolfbane: (Go Simone! )
[21:14] Murska: 'Obviously.'
[21:14] Happy [8]: Simone smiles. "But it's only information I ask."
[21:14] Happy [8]: "That what you deal in, right? I give you information, you give me some."
[21:16] Shadowcaller: "For all I know, she could be a goddess in disguise, You seem to be afraid that I would refuse the deal if I know everything."
[21:16] Murska: 'Just like we would refuse your deals if we knew everything.'
[21:17] Shadowcaller: "So it dosen't feel right, I can't even see how killing her would have anything to with the mission."
[21:17] Happy [8]: "No. I just not able to tell you more without giving away information."
[21:18] Happy [8]: "If we were able to deal on the basis of good faith, I could tell you."
[21:18] Shadowcaller: "You are supposed to give me this information anyway Simone, not making me accept some side-deals."
[21:18] Murska: 'Not really.'
[21:20] Shadowcaller: "And what exactly do you have to say in this Aegnor? I didn't see you on my servant list. Yet another reason why I always use magical binding. Otherwise people just break the contracts, as you just have proven."
[21:21] Murska: He shrugs. 'We were sent here to investigate the rumours on the worm being here. That's it.'
[21:21] Shadowcaller: "You think there is "good faith" Simone? You are as immoral as I am."
[21:22] Shadowcaller: "Obviously, you didn't read the whole contract…"
[21:22] Happy [8]: "I have never broken a deal with you."
[21:23] Murska: 'I didn't read it closely enough to notice the part which states we must tell you everything about our private lifes.'
[21:24] Shadowcaller: "Have I broken a deal with you then? Beside, I have already given you information about how to kill a wizard, it's really simple, unless of course, there is something else I need to be aware of."
[21:24] Shadowcaller: "This has to do about your private lives now?"
[21:24] Shadowcaller: "Such a complicated deal…"
[21:24] Happy [8]: "Do you have any objection to seeing her dead?"
[21:25] Shadowcaller: "I might have, if I knew everything."
[21:25] Murska: 'Oh, that sounds funnily familiar.'
[21:25] Shadowcaller: "Really? Enlighten me?"
[21:26] Shadowcaller: "I'm all ears."
[21:26] Murska: 'You know, like every single time you talk to us? If we happened to know everything about everything, we'd never need to. It would be refreshing.'
[21:27] Shadowcaller: "In your dreams Aegnor, just beacuse you accept deals nilly-willy, dosen't mean I do."
[21:27] Murska: 'Well, your choice then.'
[21:27] Happy [8]: "Then do you care to make a counter-offer?"
[21:29] Shadowcaller: "Well, first of all I would like some clarifications what "providing" information means, if I don't have it, must I find it out, sending agenst around the world? What exactly makes it so hard to kill this person?"
[21:30] Murska: 'You need to provide Simone with enough information that she can easily kill said person. If you don't have it, then it's your problem on how to get it.'
[21:31] Shadowcaller: "What do you mean by easily?"
[21:31] Shadowcaller: "For what I know, it's already easy."
[21:32] Murska: 'Has higher than ninety-five percent chance of success and doesn't take longer than at most… two months? From you giving the information to the death.'
[21:32] Shadowcaller: "Do everyone in your party want this person dead, or it is just you two?"
[21:32] Murska: 'That doesn't matter.'
[21:32] Wolfbane: (Promise would)
[21:33] Happy [8]: (I can't think of anyone who wouldn't)
[21:33] Shadowcaller: "It dose, since your party have killed some quite powerful beings from what I'm aware of, other wizards for example. So what is it with this person that makes it so hard?"
[21:33] Shadowcaller: "If all the party are in on it…"
[21:33] Murska: 'Maybe they aren't. Or maybe they are. Who knows, I'm not going to go give them questionnaires here.'
[21:34] Shadowcaller: "I still don't see why you aren't telling me."
[21:34] Murska: He laughs. 'You need to ask that?'
[21:34] Happy [8]: "Because you're a jerk and as soon as we give you the information, you won't pay for it."
[21:35] Shadowcaller: "Ah, so amusing… making deals with you isn't like anyone else."
[21:35] Murska: 'I remember someone recently with the words 'need-to-know' on a mission that risks our lives and talking about information that helps us with no adverse effects…'
[21:36] Shadowcaller: "Yes, but you haven't explained what this have to do with the mission, therefore I won't give you any such help."
[21:36] Murska: 'Okay, no deal.'
[21:36] Murska: 'How exactly are we going to kill the worm, by the way?'
[21:38] Shadowcaller: "Once you have found Kuro, you need to contact me. Then I will send Arik to help you with the very last part of the step which will be to convince this "Kuro" to call upon the worm which you in turn will kill with the book I will provide to you."
[21:38] Murska: 'Elaborate on that very last part.'
[21:39] Shadowcaller: "Arik is there to support you magially so to speak, I will make the book give any number of you a "blessing" that will enable you to kill the worm."
[21:39] Murska: 'A blessing? From a legion?'
[21:40] Murska: ('don't think I didn't see those ""-marks around the word!')
[21:41] Shadowcaller: "Yes, it might feel a bit wierd, but I can assure you that you won't be lethally harmed or anything."
[21:41] Shadowcaller: "I have deals with this legion."
[21:41] Murska: 'Lethally, eh? How ARE we going to be harmed then?'
[21:43] Shadowcaller: "Accrding to it, its' not going to "devour your flesh and your souls in…" yadayadayada "or even harm them in any way." Of course, the quote partly traslated by me."
[21:43] Murska: 'Souls? What about bodies?'
[21:43] Shadowcaller: "I think that goes to "flesh"."
[21:44] Murska: 'Did you get it to clarify 'them', then?'
[21:44] Shadowcaller: "Yes, I don't really want it to devour you. Your group is way too useful to me to being food to that thing."
[21:45] Murska: 'And I suppose you have guarantees it's speaking the truth.'
[21:46] Shadowcaller: "Of course, it is rather moral for it's kind actually, quite intelligent."
[21:46] Shadowcaller: "It even feels bad for devouring most of your race funnily enough."
[21:46] Murska: 'Well, I must sadly inform you that we cannot possibly proceed with our mission unless you accept the deal or some variation thereof.'
[21:47] Shadowcaller: "Sure, tell me me what the deal have to do with the mission and you got a deal."
[21:47] Murska: 'It allows us to proceed with it.'
[21:47] Shadowcaller: "Not enough I'm afraid."
[21:48] Murska: 'Then we're at an impasse.'
[21:49] Shadowcaller: "Clearly we are. Well, you are being rather egocentrical when this mission is about the fate of this entire city and maybe many more."
[21:49] Murska: 'True.'
[21:49] Murska: 'But hey, it's just a few cities.'
[21:51] Shadowcaller: "Yes, I suppose, like the tree or Isandwana then eh?"
[21:51] Happy [8]: "We saved World's End, after all. But I guess you don't need to know how that happened."
[21:52] Shadowcaller: "Clearly you don't have enough motivation for this mission, so lets see if you have once it devour this city as well don't we? Somehow I doubt it, but I don't need to feel bad about it. My agents will find out sooner or later anyway."
[21:53] Murska: 'The agents who can't do anything to the worm, as it were.'
[21:55] Shadowcaller: "Eh, you clearly don't care for anything Aegnor, not for your future wives family, not for the spirits who live nearby, not for… well I doubt you care for anything at all. You are exactly like me, no, you are even more heartless then me."
[21:55] Happy [8]: "And you're just throwing around insults to try and provoke us. Knock it off."
[21:56] Murska: 'Ah, but do I love this feeling.'
[21:56] Murska: 'Go ahead and continue.'
[21:57] Shadowcaller: "Why? It's not like it have any effect, you are heartless, you basically said you were there, I don't see why I should be mister obvious."
[21:57] Murska: 'Because it amuses me.'
[21:58] Shadowcaller: "I'm not telling you this to amuse you, but honestly, it's starting to bore me a bit, we are going around in circles, neither of us apperently are going to give in. I just have to hire someone else for the mission…"
[21:59] Murska: 'Nobody else has a chance anymore.'
[21:59] Shadowcaller: "Oh, really? How come?"
[22:00] Murska: 'Ah, but for that you need the deal.'
[22:00] Shadowcaller: "Unless you are lying of course, you are not exactly giving me reasons to trust you here."
[22:01] Murska: 'Oh, what goes around comes around.'
[22:01] Murska: 'However, we ARE talking about us killing a legion just in exchange for a little bit of help with a simple wizard.'
[22:02] Shadowcaller: "Okay, so the deal is to kill one human wizard then, right?"
[22:03] Murska: 'To give us information on how to kill a person going by the name of Miranda Winterborn, yes.'
[22:04] Murska: 'As according to the definitions stated earlier.'
[22:04] Shadowcaller: "Hmm… to accept this very dangerous deal, I must have something in return."
[22:05] Shadowcaller: "You are going outside the boundaries of the contract after all."
[22:05] Murska: 'Very dangerous for us maybe.'
[22:05] Shadowcaller: "Since I have no idea who she is, I might be in danger as well."
[22:06] Murska: 'I trust you can hold your own against some wizard if all you need is some information?'
[22:06] Happy [8]: "You get my memories of events of last night and this morning."
[22:06] Murska: 'Cautious is one thing but that's just overdoing it.'
[22:06] Shadowcaller: "You are refusing to tell me who she is, so I must assume the worst
[22:06] Shadowcaller: "
[22:07] Murska: 'I suppose we can divulge that she isn't capable of defeating a god in single combat.'
[22:07] Murska: 'At least an established god.'
[22:07] Shadowcaller: "Do she have any allies or anything aligned to her that could?"
[22:08] Shadowcaller: "Protected by a god perhaps, like Artaris?"
[22:08] Murska: 'She might. It's not like we have her complete autobiography.'
[22:08] Shadowcaller: "That was not my question, do you *know* if she has?"
[22:08] Murska: 'We don't know if she is protected by something capable of killing an established god.'
[22:10] Shadowcaller: "And then comes the "knowledge" bit…"
[22:10] Shadowcaller: "Do you have good reasons to belive she dose then?"
[22:11] Murska: 'We don't have good reasons to believe it, no.' (That was getting /pretty/ close to lying there :P)
[22:14] Shadowcaller: "So to clarify, you do not have good reasons to belive Miranda Winterborn is in any way aligned to something that is capable of even hurt me or effect my bussiness greatly in a negative way?"
[22:15] Happy [8]: "I dont' think you're that powerful, Helios."
[22:15] Murska: 'Hey, we don't know what exactly is capable of hurting you.'
[22:16] Murska: 'Anyway, the way you're wording it is a very broad term. This whole city is aligned to Artaris and she's one of the ruling class.'
[22:16] Shadowcaller: "Okay, another god or a legion thats the only things I can think of."
[22:17] Shadowcaller: "Or a major kami or a elemental."
[22:17] Murska: 'Well, besides that, no.'
[22:17] Shadowcaller: "Or a greater thing from the deep realms…"
[22:17] Shadowcaller: "Hm, so many things…"
[22:18] Murska: 'So, that finally enough for you?'
[22:18] Shadowcaller: "I still want something in return."
[22:18] Happy [8]: "What do you want?"
[22:20] Shadowcaller: "The simplest task possible… you are going to like this one. In East Gate there is a woman who recently have made a deal with me. She wants me or my agents, to take her child back to New Dys."
[22:20] Shadowcaller: "Seems like a nice thing to do eh?"
[22:21] Murska: Aegnor rises his hands in the air in frustration. 'And now to the endless circling before we could possibly accept that…'
[22:21] Murska: 'All we need is some information on how to kill someone. It's not even REMOTELY probable for you to come to any danger for it.'
[22:21] Happy [8]: (SC, I just sent you the start of the SEU narration. Can you see if you can think of where it goes from there?)
[22:21] Shadowcaller: "Hey, the deal was made while we were talking."
[22:21] Happy [8]: "How old is the child?"
[22:21] Shadowcaller: "2."
[22:22] Happy [8]: "What species?"
[22:22] Murska: 'So, where's the catch?'
[22:22] Shadowcaller: "Catch? You just need to take the child from point A to point B."
[22:22] Murska: 'Yes, what's the catch?'
[22:23] Shadowcaller: "A elf."
[22:23] Murska: 'Eh, whatever. It'll take at least a few hours before we're even nearing the conclusion of this.'
[22:23] Murska: 'And then you'll probably spring another condition on us, as usual.'
[22:23] Shadowcaller: *an elf
[22:23] Happy [8]: "And the mother doesn't want to go with her child?"
[22:23] Happy [8]: "What about the father? Is this a custody dispute?"
[22:24] Shadowcaller: "She is dying."
[22:24] Shadowcaller: "Which is related to the mission I gave Promise funnnily enough."
[22:24] Shadowcaller: "The father is dead, due the same reason."
[22:25] Shadowcaller: (Want me to try to finish it?)
[22:26] Murska: 'Tell you what. You tell us everything you know already about the possibilities and methods of killing Miranda and everything you can find out without more risk to your own person than the chance of an arrow killing me in the next two hours and we give you the information Simone has.'
[22:26] Murska: 'Us first, of course.'
[22:26] Shadowcaller: "Well, will you take the child then?"
[22:27] Murska: 'Maybe if you offer us another deal for that.'
[22:27] Shadowcaller: "…do you really want to go over this again?"
[22:28] Murska: 'Not particularly but it'll take much longer the hard way around.'
[22:28] Shadowcaller: "Or am I to assume you are simply lying and send someone who dosen't talk as much?"
[22:30] Murska: 'What's with all the being stupid and not accepting a good deal on principle now?'
[22:30] Murska: 'I thought you were above such things.'
[22:30] Murska: 'Or below, as it may be.'
[22:31] Shadowcaller: "The deal is not very good in my eyes, and I have disscussed this far too long to simply accept it now."
[22:31] Murska: (I'll go to sleep then)
[22:31] Murska: (Continue negotiations another day)
[22:31] Wolfbane: (Night)
[22:32] Shadowcaller: (Night.)
[22:32] Shadowcaller: (Helios isn't going to give in >.>)
[22:32] Happy [8]: (Helios always makes me tired)
[22:32] Murska: (Nor is Aegnor)
[22:32] Murska: (thus, the plot is stuck)
[22:32] Murska: (night all)
[22:32] Murska: *hugs Happy*
[22:32] Happy [8]: (But this isn't giving in. Aegnor significantly lowered what we're asking of Helios)
[22:32] Happy [8]: *hugs Murska*
[22:33] Happy [8]: (from 'procure all the information we need' to 'give us what you already have')
[22:33] Murska: (from 'kill someone' to 'tell us how to kill someone' to 'tell us how to kill someone without putting yourself in any risk' to 'tell us what you already know without putting yourself in any risk')
[22:34] Happy [8]: (Simone never asked him to kill her, but otherwise, yeah)
[22:34] Shadowcaller: (Oh, I thought it looked the same.)
[22:34] Shadowcaller: (Sorry about that.)
[22:34] *** Aegnor has left the conversation.
[22:35] Shadowcaller: (I didn't read his text well rnough >.>)
[22:35] Shadowcaller: *enough
[22:35] Shadowcaller: (Not the last deal at least.)
[22:36] Happy [8]: (so…)
[22:37] Happy [8]: *fingers crossed that he accepts and we can move on with stuff*
[22:37] Wolfbane: *does the same*
[22:43] Happy [8]: ..
[22:44] Shadowcaller: Hm, so did Promise hear about his deal?
[22:44] Happy [8]: Sure, let's say he's been told.
[22:44] Shadowcaller: Well, did he accept it I mean?
[22:45] Wolfbane: What were the specifics?
[22:45] Happy [8]: graaarrr!
[22:46] Wolfbane: O.o
[22:46] Wolfbane: Sorry!
[22:46] Wolfbane: *hides*
[22:46] Wolfbane: I know it involves him tracking down some kind of spirit thats been killing people and he needs to trap its soul, is that it?
[22:47] Wolfbane: A dryad/nymph like thing
[22:47] Shadowcaller: He wanted the spirit essence of the Gothad that have plagued east gate and The duwner for some weeks
[22:47] Shadowcaller: Yeah
[22:47] Wolfbane: Okay, I just wanted to make sure nothing had changed
[22:47] Wolfbane: *cowers from happy*
[22:47] Shadowcaller:
[22:48] Happy [8]: i'm fading anyway
[22:48] Shadowcaller: Also, to change subject…
[22:48] Happy [8]: so you can negotiate as long as you like without me
[22:48] Shadowcaller: We been talking about that si-fi setting
[22:48] Shadowcaller: The next IF
[22:48] Wolfbane: He'd accept it. Its part of his deal.
[22:49] Shadowcaller: We already have some general ideas
[22:49] Shadowcaller: (okay, good >.>)
[22:49] Shadowcaller: But we are going to let the different GM's fill it with stuff
[22:49] Wolfbane: The only thing he'd ask is how the orb works.
[22:49] Wolfbane: Eh, I could GM a sci-fi setting most of the time <.<
[22:50] Shadowcaller: (stick it into her body once she's dead-)
[22:50] Wolfbane: Depends on how far you want to go into the future
[22:50] Shadowcaller: We have already made a few general outlines I have told Happy about
[22:50] Wolfbane: Like what?
[22:51] Shadowcaller: Space travel is made by "mass relays" (at least among humans.)
[22:51] Happy [8]: so does that mean helios isn't going to accept the deal? :P
[22:51] Shadowcaller: (sure he is.)
[22:52] Wolfbane: (And if you tell Promise, he'll take the child after he's dealt with the thing)
[22:52] Happy [8]: if he does, Simone steps into the circle and lets him download her brain
[22:52] Happy [8]: or upload. whatever
[22:52] Shadowcaller: Which will make Helios laugh

[22:53] Shadowcaller: Anyway, we are separated from earth and the space we have known from looking around it (with satelites and telescopes.)
[22:54] Shadowcaller: Since at earth, we found a worm hole that lead to a completely different part of the universe
[22:54] Shadowcaller: they send a colony ship into it that arrived at the earth like planed that was named "Eden"
[22:54] Shadowcaller: Shortly after that, the worm hole collapsed, which stranded the collonists
[22:55] Shadowcaller: The IF begins more then 800 years after that event
[22:55] Happy [8]: why will he laugh?
[22:55] Shadowcaller: (I'll reveal that tomorrow^^)
[22:55] Wolfbane: What tech level are we at?
[22:56] Happy [8]: drawing out the suspense doesn't work with me.
[22:56] Happy [8]: i'll just forget where we left off if it doesn't close off in a tidy ending
[22:56] Shadowcaller: Space ships, projetile based weapons, no FTL travel (we got mass relays that works like teleporters for space ships.)
[22:57] Shadowcaller: Okay, since for all he knows, Arch-liches are almost impossible to kill.
[22:57] Happy [8]: so he's laughing at her ambition?
[22:57] Shadowcaller: Yes
[22:58] Happy [8]: heh
[22:58] Happy [8]: not the first time
[22:58] Happy [8]: won't be the last
[22:58] Shadowcaller: ^^
[23:00] Wolfbane: Are the cities like Giant CyberPunk ones?
[23:00] Shadowcaller: Anyway, you will start on the Eye-Classed space ship Luna III, all memories gone and all other crew gone as well.
[23:00] Shadowcaller: Well, the outer planets have cyberpunk
[23:01] Shadowcaller: After the humans expanded too large for the goverment on Eden to handle
[23:01] Wolfbane: Artificial AI? Cybernetic implants? Robotic arms?
[23:01] Wolfbane: Sorry, I'll wait till the end
[23:01] Shadowcaller: No sapien AI
[23:02] Happy [8]: hey… if you are going to make the whole universe again… we're going to end up with the same problem
[23:02] Shadowcaller: So the world is divided between the outer systems and the core systems (which will be more structured) Well, this is what Murska suggested >.>
[23:03] Shadowcaller: I didn't really have much to say in it. But I think he wanted it to make it easier story wise or something
[23:04] Happy [8]: so does that mean this one will end after the current story arc?
[23:04] Shadowcaller: Uh, I don't know
[23:04] Shadowcaller: Depends, I mean, we could just try it a bit
[23:05] Shadowcaller: I don't mind continue the fantasy one…
[23:07] Shadowcaller: What do you think?
[23:09] Wolfbane: I'm getting the feeling that we're starting to burn this one out, but we had that idea for the 10 years later thing.
[23:09] Shadowcaller: Hmm… I had ideas for both:P
[23:10] Shadowcaller: I'll do whatever you think is funniest
[23:12] Shadowcaller: I will miss the old characters thought >.>
