Apr 16 Pt 1

[14:31] Happy: Crew and all gather for the evening meal. The Captain thinks you'll be able to leave by this time tomorrow.
[14:31] Shadowcaller: ANd no wolfen attacks yet?
[14:32] Happy: None yet.
[14:32] Happy: Simone sits down next to Aegnor.
[14:33] Murska: Aegnor is playing music and doesn't say anything.
[14:33] Murska: (meal time atm?)
[14:33] Happy: "You are right, Miss Cessie has very pretty voice."
[14:33] Happy: (yes, meal time)
[14:33] Murska: (He'd have eaten some dried meat earlier but that wouldn't stop him from eating now. :P)
[14:33] Murska: Aegnor looks suprised. 'What?'
[14:34] Shadowcaller: (WOrld out to embarasse me…)
[14:36] Happy: "We play Truth or Dare in Miss Happy's tent. And Happy dare her to sing."
[14:37] Murska: 'And she did? Why am I never there when something momentous happens in this world…'
[14:37] Wolfbane: (because you are asleep :P)
[14:37] Murska: (yup)
[14:37] Murska: (Sleep is something made to destroy all the hopes and dreams of everyone and everything.)
[14:39] Murska: (And no, I don't really think that. I don't have opinions, or at least I try to hide them in the jumble of ones I pick up momentarily.)
[14:40] Wolfbane: (:P)
[14:40] Happy: 'She did. And Ai did a dance, and everyone answer lots of questions. Only one question do not get an answer."
[14:41] Happy: (you guys can jump in anytime)
[14:41] Murska: Aegnor seems to be talking almost to himself. 'Well, I guess she managed to summon the willpower after all. I knew she would.'
[14:43] Murska: (And yes, he's referring to talking to Happy and Wolfbane, not singing.)
[14:44] Happy: 'Aegnor, is it secret that Miss Happy and Promise are in love? Today they try to pretend they are not, but they are poor actors."
[14:45] Wolfbane: (Yep, I knew she would pick up on it.)
[14:46] Murska: 'It is, yeah.'
[14:49] Happy: (you don't survive on the streets if you can't read people)
[14:49] Happy: "They need you teach them how to act, or it not stay secret."
[14:50] Happy: Happy sits with Cessie. "Thank you for coming to talk to us."
[14:50] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "I needed to do that, I could not live with you like that."
[14:51] Murska: 'I suppose. But then, I don't think acting lessons would help. I know it'd be really difficult to act like I didn't like Cessie.'
[14:56] Happy: Wolfbane and BS are still talking.
[14:56] Wolfbane: (brb )
[14:56] Happy: Happy: "Still, I know it was hard for you. It means a lot to me."
[14:57] Happy: Simone: "You play Truth or Dare with us next time?"
[14:58] Murska: '…I'm not sure. I mean, I shouldn't be a coward but I've never played that with anyone I felt obliged to actually answer truthfully to.'
[14:58] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "Well, i'm glad it came out, to have finished that chapter."
[14:58] Shadowcaller: "Now I can move on to something else."
[14:58] Wolfbane: (back)
[14:59] Happy: [05:35] Happy: He's silent for a moment. "I am not sure what my father will think of your choice. It is unusual."
[05:40] Wolfbane: Promise nods. "I understand that it is unusual. If your father finds out, then I hope he will keep an open mind about it since we will not be here too much longer."
[05:41] Happy: "He will wonder why you did not tell him when you spoke."
[05:42] Wolfbane: "It had not happened until after we had spoke."
[14:59] Happy: bs: "So humans do not have a mating ceremony?"
[15:01] Wolfbane: Promise thinks for a moment. "I believe they do, but I will have to ask her."
[15:02] Murska: (bee arr bee)
[15:03] Happy: Happy: "And what is that something else?"
[15:03] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "I don't know, what do you think? I was mostly thinking about magic training really…"
[15:04] Murska: (bee back is am me)
[15:04] Happy: BS is silent for a while, eating, before changing the subject: "Is there a proper protocol among humans for issuing a challenge?"
[15:04] Murska: (I wonder… Planescape - Torment on part screen?)
[15:05] Happy: Simone scoffs at this: "If you do not want to answer truth, then you lie. Is easy."
[15:06] Murska: 'You shouldn't lie to people you'll be spending time with. Remember the priorities I told you about? One of my priorities is to stay with Happy and Cessie, and to try to return the kindness they have shown towards me. If they find out I've lied to them, it might undermine the bond of trust we have established. A game is not worth that.'
[15:08] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "Its hard to see whats about to come."
[15:12] Wolfbane: "I think so, but it would depend on the challenge. A challenge of honor, or just one to test yourself? For a challenge of honor, one must insult another. To test yourself, I believe that all you would have to do is ask respectfully."
[15:13] Wolfbane: (blarg. Hard questions. :P)
[15:13] Happy: BS: "Then the strange smelling human meant to challenge me with his insults?"
[15:14] Happy: Happy: "Wouldn't you need to go back to the university for that?"
[15:15] Shadowcaller: "I can get Arik's help, he was my master at the univeristy anyway, he knows."
[15:15] Happy: Simone: "Bah. I trust only myself."
[15:16] Murska: 'I used to think like that. I hope you'll prove yourself wrong some day.'
[15:16] Wolfbane: "No, he did not wish for a challenge. He was just arrogent and thickskulled. He has apologized and he wants me to extend that to you as well."
[15:16] Wolfbane: (Funny that the Wolfen is one of the few with Diplomacy skills. :P)
[15:17] Murska: (why? as Aegnor keeps saying, let's not judge by race)
[15:17] Happy: (funny because he's been alone so long though)
[15:17] Happy: (BS has been trained in diplomacy though, which is why he was chosen.)
[15:17] Murska: (well, haven't most of us…)0
[15:18] Happy: (Happy wasn't)
[15:18] Murska: (and she's a barbarian)
[15:18] Shadowcaller: (Cessie technically wasn't alone.)
[15:18] Shadowcaller: (SHe had teachers and stuff.)
[15:19] Happy: (who never taught her the first thing about social interactions)
[15:19] Shadowcaller: (That was not their job after all.)
[15:19] Happy: (Happy at least learned that much, though only by example rather than training)
[15:19] Happy: (Simone knows how to read and manipulate people, which is sort of like diplomacy)
[15:19] Murska: (Aegnor wasn't 'alone' per se, he was amongst people more often than not.)
[15:26] Happy: "I'm sure he can teach you a lot," Happy says, forcing a smile.
[15:27] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "He can, he was one of the best wizards in the country before… well before he left it."
[15:27] Happy: Simone: "It is a trap. You trust one person, and he do not hurt you. So you think it safe to trust the next, and he do not hurt you either. But third one…" She makes a throat slitting gesture.
[15:28] Happy: BS: "Will you translate my challenge to her then?"
[15:29] Murska: 'I know it's futile to say anything to that. But I hope you find out you're wrong before it's too late.'
[15:29] Shadowcaller: Cessie; "Did Aegnor tell you asnything about that?…"
[15:29] Shadowcaller: *anything
[15:30] Wolfbane: Promise nods. "I can not say if she will accept it or not, but I will ask."
[15:31] Wolfbane: (BS won't know what hit him. :P)
[15:31] Shadowcaller: (Well, it will be better then if he had challanged Arik…)
[15:32] Happy: (Or worse, Cessie. Because then Arik would destroy him instead of just insulting and ignoring him.)
[15:33] Shadowcaller: (I doubt Arik would be that stupid.)
[15:33] Shadowcaller: (Killing ahelp-less wolfen right in front of his sister?)
[15:34] Shadowcaller: (+ starting a war.)
[15:34] Wolfbane: "Do you wish for me to ask now?"
[15:35] Happy: Happy: "He told me that Arik was… changed." Happy doesn't want to be more explicit in case they are overheard, though no one seems close enough to do so.
[15:35] Happy: BS agrees, and walks over to where Happy and Cessie are sitting.
[15:36] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "SO he told you about that huh?… You don't have a problem with it right?"
[15:36] Wolfbane: Promise also goes towards Happy and Cessie.
[15:38] Happy: Happy: "After what we faced at the Tower… it was unsettling. But Aegnor says he should be judged on his actions, not on what he is."
[15:39] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "DOn't dare compare him with those things, he is a great wizard that just didn't want to die."
[15:42] Wolfbane: Promise walks up. "Sorry if I am interrupting, but I need to ask Happy a question."
[15:42] Wolfbane: "Two actually, but one can wait."
[15:42] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "Can't it wait one moment? We are in the middle of something here…"
[15:43] Wolfbane: "Sorry, but this needs to be asked as soon as possible."
[15:44] Happy: (it does?)
[15:44] Wolfbane: (No, but he is trying to get the two of you calmed down.)
[15:45] Happy: "I'm sorry Cessie. I did not mean it that way," Happy says quietly.
[15:46] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "Very well… just don't do that again."
[15:48] Shadowcaller: Cessie: "I get sick of people who don't understand…"
[15:49] Happy: BS turns to Happy. "I would be honoured if you would accept my challenge to test your skill against mine in a first blood duel."
[15:49] Shadowcaller: (Like the whole nation apperently didn't.)
[15:49] Murska: (well maybe if he WASN'T a jerk…)
[15:49] Happy: (But she was actually just saying why she found the information unsettling at first. :P)
[15:50] Wolfbane: Promise relays the challenge to Happy.
[15:50] Shadowcaller: (Hey, he is very complex person <.<)
[15:50] Wolfbane: gah
[15:50] Wolfbane: (Sorry, misclicked a little too low)
[15:50] Murska: (A very complex jerk)
[15:51] Happy: (with a creepy fixation on his sister)
[15:51] Murska: (freud would have a field day)
[15:52] Shadowcaller: (But, he can't even have that anymore, its nothing sexual about it, at all.)
[15:52] Wolfbane: (Not by Freud's understanding)
[15:52] Murska: (That tends to make people into jerks, then? :P)
[15:52] Happy: Happy grins, and rises to her feet. "I accept. Unarmed?"
[15:52] Wolfbane: Promsie asks BS.
[15:52] Happy: (sexuality can be sublimated into other things, you know.)
[15:53] Murska: (*hands Happy a scone*)
[15:53] Shadowcaller: (When you speak of the devil…) Aegnor hears the movement of robes that only can mean one person
[15:53] Happy: (yay! scones!)
[15:53] Murska: Aegnor turns his head towards the sound. (Since Simone seems to have fallen inactive)
[15:54] Shadowcaller: "Aegnor, I'm glad to finally found you."
[15:54] Happy: (oops, did I miss something? Well, say she started eating then. She's not used to regular meals, after all. Especially hot ones.)
[15:54] Shadowcaller: "I trust my sister told you about… the wolfen and Happy?"
[15:55] Happy: BS: "I cannot remove my claws. I must insist that you have a blade."
[15:55] Murska: 'Indeed, she did.'
[15:55] Happy: (he says this in front of Simone? O.O)
[15:55] Shadowcaller: (Is simone close?)
[15:55] Happy: (yes)
[15:55] Murska: (Same table, I assume.)
[15:55] Murska: (I was writing a response to his greeting, too)
[15:55] Shadowcaller: (then he takes Aegnor away a bit.)
[15:56] Murska: ('Likewise.' Aegnor smiles and extends his hand. 'Cessie told me to apologize for our little scholars' debate back then. I told her nobody would take offense from such a minor thing but you know how it is sometimes…')
[15:56] Wolfbane: "Happy, he says that since he cannot remove his claws, he insists you carry a blade."
[15:56] Murska: *is taken away a bit*
[15:56] Happy: (never tell secrets in front of Simone. That'd be as bad as doing it in front of Helios.)
[15:56] Shadowcaller: "Oh, I'm deeply sorry too, I was just missunderstanding things, as usual." He smiles
[15:57] Murska: 'Now, what was it you wanted to talk about?'
[15:57] Shadowcaller: "Well, since you are aware of the relationship I might go ahead out and say it…"
[15:58] Shadowcaller: "Are you aware of how dangerous their relationship is?"
[15:58] Murska: (Simone /might/ be able to tell that Aegnor was acting being friendly but then, he isn't harbouring any that negative feelings towards him so probably not.)
[15:58] Murska: 'People don't understand things, fear things they don't understand and then get angry at things they fear, is what I am assuming you are referring to?'
[15:59] Happy: (She knows there's tension, but chalks it up to emotional rivalry for Cessie's affection.)
[15:59] Murska: (I got to go fetch food)
[15:59] Murska: (be right back)
[16:01] Shadowcaller: "Well, this is a bit more then some hill villagers, much of the people living around here and other areas have these… fears."
[16:01] Happy: brb
[16:01] Shadowcaller: "You know how many languages "wolf-whore" translates to?"
[16:06] Happy: (mom phone call - might be a while)
[16:07] Murska: (back)
[16:07] Murska: 'I can't say I have traced the etymology and spread of the term, I'm afraid.'
[16:08] Shadowcaller: "Well, neither do I but I know it translates to at least five."
[16:10] Wolfbane: (*goes to shave until Happy comes back*)
[16:11] Murska: 'The widely spread prejudices of the people are indeed a sad thing. But at least they have each other, and us.'
[16:12] Shadowcaller: "Well, thats what I were here to talk about, you can't mentione their relationship to anyone outside our group."
[16:13] Shadowcaller: *mention
[16:13] Shadowcaller: "…You haven't done that yet right?"
[16:14] Murska: 'Of course not. But Simone had noticed it already, which is almost as bad.'
[16:14] Shadowcaller: "Oh, I don't think she will say anything, she is with me after all."
[16:14] Shadowcaller: "But if they can't hide it even to her…"
[16:15] Murska: 'Not to mention that anyone who watches them is bound to notice.'
[16:15] Shadowcaller: "Can you tell them? You have a lot better connection with them then I have."
[16:16] Murska: 'I can try, but I doubt it'll help. Do you really think that the normal villagers around here would have the guts to go accuse someone travelling with a group that is clearly strong enough to wipe out them and their whole village without any concrete proof?'
[16:17] Shadowcaller: "Not around here, but we are going to Kyou…"
[16:17] Murska: 'I regret to admit that I am not well-travelled outside my homeland. What is Kyou like?'
[16:17] Shadowcaller: "Hm, I guess I better tell you more about the location we are going to right?"
[16:19] Shadowcaller: "Well, Kyou is a town part of the Hyrillian Empire, we will have to pass a lot of customs and things before we can enter…"
[16:20] Shadowcaller: "Also, all gods are forbidden there."
[16:20] Shadowcaller: "DOn't mentione that any of you worship anything."
[16:20] Murska: 'What do the normal people believe in, then?'
[16:21] Shadowcaller: "Their emperor Yu-mai wants to ascent to god-hood, he is the only one people are allowed to belive in."
[16:21] Murska: 'Ah… forced belief. I haven't heard of that one ever working, what makes them think it would this time?'
[16:22] Shadowcaller: "Well, its more of a ban of all other religions, its either belive in nothing, or that."
[16:22] Wolfbane: (back)
[16:22] Murska: 'I suppose I'll meet a higher percentage of atheists than usual, then.'
[16:23] Shadowcaller: Arik chuckles "There is a war there too, they are in war with the high population of Kuori worshippers in the country."
[16:24] Murska: 'I can imagine that would be difficult.'
[16:25] Shadowcaller: "I also should mentione that there is a whole lot of spirits, or kami as they call them there."
[16:25] Murska: 'Interesting…'
[16:25] Shadowcaller: "Spirits worshippers was very common before Yu-mai banned it."
[16:26] Murska: 'What about the elves you mentioned?'
[16:26] Shadowcaller: "Right… before the elven wars Kyou was the home of the elves that refused to leave the lower plane."
[16:26] Shadowcaller: "The village was a tempel devouted to the spirits."
[16:27] Murska: 'Right…' Aegnor mutters an elven word.
[16:27] Shadowcaller: "It was said to be a gate into the spirit world, when they were attacked by humans they defended it to the last man."
[16:27] Shadowcaller: "But of course, there were always survivors."
[16:27] * Auto-response sent to Group Conversation: I am currently away from the computer.
[16:28] Shadowcaller: "They have been reduced… in the Hyrillian empire elves are know as the lowest type of creaures, willing to do anything for money."
[16:30] Murska: (uh. Youtube… stopped. Oo)
[16:32] Shadowcaller: "As the poet Mijumi said "These elves, they disgust me. The things they will do for money no other thinking creature would consider. This, of course, makes them useful beyond words."
[16:32] Murska: 'Right. Good to know.'
[16:33] Shadowcaller: "As long as you are ready for it… they will msot likely try to buy you, or throw you our."
[16:33] Murska: 'If Cessie would agree, I'd have disguised myself already.'
[16:34] Happy: (back)
[16:34] Shadowcaller: "You better do that, and the wolfen too really, they have no love for his kind either, except as tools of labor."
[16:35] Happy: Happy takes a dagger, and she and Black Stripe mark out a circle.
[16:35] Murska: 'I wouldn't care about their attitudes but it's more useful to go unnoticed.'
[16:35] Shadowcaller: (We got some back story to Kyou, yay!)
[16:36] Shadowcaller: "Yes, exactly my attitude to this problem."
[16:37] Wolfbane: (I don't think Promise would mind being sneaky for a day or two)
[16:39] Happy: (i think we'll be in Kyou longer than a day or two)
[16:39] Wolfbane: (true)
[16:40] Shadowcaller: (Its the largest town we have been in.)
[16:44] Murska: 'So, I'll try and help them to learn how to act better, I guess… Nothing else we can do.'
[16:45] Shadowcaller: "Yes, that is the only thing you can do I'm afraid, I think I need to talk with this goddess of Cessie too…"
[16:55] Happy: Happy and BS are ready to fight
[16:56] Shadowcaller: (Go Happy!)
[16:56] Wolfbane: Promise watches the fight closely.
[16:57] Happy: Those of the crew who aren't on repairs gather around
[16:58] Happy: (Wolfbane, how long till you go for the summer? :()
[16:59] Wolfbane: (3-4 weeks v.v)
[16:59] Happy: (we need to jump ahead to Kyou)
[16:59] Wolfbane: (We could probably finish the Kyou part before then)
[16:59] Murska: (12 hours a night. :P)
[17:00] Shadowcaller: Cessie don't seem really intrested in what she considers to be a bit stupid contest in physical strength but watches anyway
[17:00] Wolfbane: (I am going to try to convince my parents to get Net.)
[17:00] Murska: Aegnor, unless Arik seems to have something else to say, returns, finishes eating quickly and joins the crowd.
[17:00] Murska: good luck with that)
[17:00] Shadowcaller: Arik also wants to see this duel apperently
[17:01] Murska: (Parents are like CR 90)
[17:01] Wolfbane: (thanks)
[17:02] Shadowcaller: (brb, food.)
[17:03] Happy: Happy moves into the circle, dagger in hand, in a crouched stance.
[17:04] Happy: Simone is watching too.
[17:07] Murska: BS readies his stance and circles her slowly, his claws positioned to be able to respond to quick movements.
[17:13] Happy: Happy moves closer cautiously, then slashes out in a quick move to test his reactions.
[17:14] Murska: BS dodges the blow and counters with a slash towards her lower body.
[17:19] Happy: Happy springs to the side, and tries to take advantage by slashing at the upper arm that just slashed at her. (repeating words)
[17:21] Murska: BS controls his arm into turning the upward movement into a doubled strike downward. Even though the opponent is no longer there, this allows him to retract his arm without it being hit. He jumps backwards a bit and eyes Happy with newfound respect.
[17:21] Wolfbane: (Go Happy! :P)
[17:23] Shadowcaller: back
[17:25] Shadowcaller: Cessie watches the game, not knowing anything about combat she at least smiles when Happy seems to be winning
[17:26] Murska: BS leaps towards her in what appears to be a frontal charge, one of his claws in a raised position, but slashes at her from her off-side with his other claw instead.
[17:27] Shadowcaller: Arik asks Aegnor "What are they fighting about?"
[17:27] Murska: (This is an outward slash from middle to the side)
[17:28] Murska: 'This is just a duel. I don't know what exactly about, but I'd guess it's just a test of skill.'
[17:28] Shadowcaller: "How… intresting."
[17:36] Happy: Happy tries to block the attack with her left arm, but his strength and momentum cause it to follow through, though diverted a bit. The slash catches her, tearing her leather armour. Meanwhile, she twists her body so that she's right side on to him, slashing downwards.
[17:36] Happy: (do wizards not duel?)
[17:36] Shadowcaller: (Not in Hestopia they don't)
[17:36] Shadowcaller: (Its considered a primitive way of resolving a conflict.)
[17:37] Happy: Had it been a real fight, she'd have stabbed upwards into his gut, but she has no wish to cause a serious wound, even if she could heal it afterwards.
[17:37] Happy: (not even to practice?)
[17:37] Murska: (His claw was at the beginning of the strike between his body and Happy's)
[17:37] Murska: (So Happy can't get enough force behind a strike if she tries to avoid it)
[17:38] Shadowcaller: (Magic is considered to valuable to use in battle, Wizards primaly train other sides of magic.)
[17:38] Murska: Black Stripe brings his raised claw against his hand, diverting his attack. He pushes his advantage, striking at Happy with one claw while keeping her dagger-hand busy with the other. Those present who know about fighting see that BS is mercilessly abusing the fact that he has two weapons as opposed to Happy's one.
[17:38] Murska: (*her hand)
[17:38] Murska: (darnit gender pronouns)
[17:41] Shadowcaller: (Wizards are mainly trained to avoid killing anyone by using their magic in a non-leathal way, of course if a wizard really wanted to kill you…)
[17:41] Shadowcaller: (Note: This is what they learn in Hestopia at least.)
[17:43] Murska: brb
[17:45] Shadowcaller: (Wizards were in any way discouraged to use their magic for fighting, since its considered beneath them.)
[17:45] Murska: back
[17:45] Shadowcaller: *are
[17:53] Happy: Happy remains within reach, opting for offense rather than defense. She shifts the dagger in her hand to a blade downwards grip, making a sideways arc swipe towards his torso.
[17:54] Murska: BS is suprised at the dagger's blade not being where it should have been. His block is bypassed by the swing, but his other claw scratches her side when she leaves herself open.
[17:55] Wolfbane: (Aw…)
[17:55] Murska: (tie)
[17:55] Wolfbane: (Yay!)
[17:56] Murska: (And her strike would have been more effective in a real fight.)
[17:56] Murska: Aegnor applauds.
[17:56] Happy: (In a real fight, she'd have been stabbing, not slashing)
[17:56] Shadowcaller: Cessie is unsure what to do, Arik looks almost bored
[17:57] Wolfbane: (Yeah)
[17:57] Murska: (yup, but then, in a real fight, her opponent wouldn't have cared about getting hit by such a dagger)
[17:57] Murska: (Protected his vitals and tackled her, probably)
[17:57] Happy: Happy, forgetting the teeth thing, grins and thumps Black Stripe on the back. "Good fight."
[17:57] Murska: (and now I step off. :P)
[17:57] Happy: (what, driving his weight into the blade? bad move)
[17:57] Murska: (The blade of a dagger is easy to sweep aside when you have claws)
[17:58] Shadowcaller: Arik: "Such a way of resolving anything…"
[17:58] Happy: Black Stripe seems pleased with the event as well, though he isn't sure what Happy just said.
[17:58] Happy: Simone jumps up and down clapping.
[17:58] Wolfbane: Promise applauds the two fighters.
[17:59] Happy: And the sailors clap as well. A bit of money from bets changes hands.
[17:59] Murska: Aegnor moves to Simone. 'I hope you didn't look into that as any advice on how to actually handle a knife in a fight.'
[17:59] Happy: "No, it was pretend fight only. I see that much."
[18:00] Wolfbane: Promise tells BS what Happy said.
[18:00] Murska: 'Most importantly, only to first blood.'
[18:00] Murska: 'You do not slash with a dagger.'
[18:00] Happy: "If a Wolfen want to fight me, he have to catch me first," she says, grinning.
[18:01] Shadowcaller: Cessie don't really look happy about the fight
[18:01] Murska: 'They can smell you.'
[18:01] Murska: 'It wouldn't be that difficult.'
[18:01] Happy: "I hide in places they cannot reach."
[18:02] Murska: 'In a city, perhaps, if you know it well enough to find one in time.'
[18:02] Shadowcaller: Arik approaches Promise: "Tell me wolfen, what was this "fight" about?"
[18:02] Wolfbane: "To test out their abilities. That is all."
[18:03] Shadowcaller: "Hm, I guess without magic, there is no other way."
[18:04] Shadowcaller: "A dangeorus life… one misstake and someone could have lost an eye."
[18:04] Murska: (two mistakes. :P)
[18:04] Murska: (One on both sides)
[18:05] Wolfbane: "Maybe with untrained fighters, but not with those two."
[18:05] Happy: BS to Happy: "It was an honor." Simone: "Yes. I think if a Wolfen chase me here, I am dinner. Unless you or Arik save me."
[18:05] Shadowcaller: "No matter how much you train the body, misstakes could always be made."
[18:06] Wolfbane: Promise relays the message from BS.
[18:06] Murska: 'You can rely on me doing that. But you better have a good reason afterwards for why a Wolfen was chasing you, or I'll hand you over as a dinner myself.' *smile*
[18:08] Wolfbane: To Arik: "Of course, but I did not think that any would happen."
[18:08] Happy: "It is the warrior's way to accept such risks," Happy says. "It's part of training."
[18:08] Happy: (Is Promise translating Arik's comments?)
[18:08] Wolfbane: (No)
[18:09] Shadowcaller: "Still, the body is unpredictable, you never know whats wrong with it until its too late."
[18:09] Happy: "What, would I steal a Wolfen's spear?" Simone says, laughing. "No, I am not so foolish."
[18:10] Murska: (A honed mind is no less unpredictable than a honed body. is what Aegnor would say.)
[18:10] Murska: 'I know you are not. But you don't always think everything through, do you?' *grin*
[18:12] Wolfbane: He turns to BS and chuckles. "I had said that she was a fierce fighter."
[18:12] Shadowcaller: "Tell me, how much have our races bodies evolved since the creation of the world? We are still the same as our ancestors were, absolutely nothing has happend during all this time, you are still suing the same weapon as the first of your kind did."
[18:12] Shadowcaller: *using
[18:13] Shadowcaller: "…I think I said too much, I will bother you no longer."
[18:13] Shadowcaller: He turns away
[18:16] Wolfbane: Promise thinks for a second. "Arik, maybe our bodies and weapons haven't evolved, but maybe our understanding of them has."
[18:16] Happy: Simone crossed her arms and looks offended. "I always have a reason for what I do!"
[18:17] Wolfbane: (If Arik is still there, I assumed that he only turned away)
[18:17] Shadowcaller: Arik turns back: "I don't think my sister would like if we disscussed this wolfen."
[18:17] Murska: 'Indeed.' Aegnor doesn't say any more about the topic.
[18:18] Wolfbane: He raises an eyebrow because he doesn't understand. "The idea just came suddenly, that was all. No offense intended. I don't pretend to understand why."
[18:19] Wolfbane: (Even he will become philisophical sometimes :P)
[18:19] Wolfbane: (can*)
[18:19] *
Aegnor has left the conversation.
[18:20] *** moc.liamtoh|iretnas_omis#moc.liamtoh|iretnas_omis (Aegnor) has joined the conversation.
[18:20] Shadowcaller: "Hm, well… would you claim yourself to be better to a warrior of legend?"
[18:20] Happy: Happy puts a hand to Promise's arm, and gives a gentle squeeze before going to the tent to get her healing kit.
[18:21] Wolfbane: Promise nods to Happy. "I do not claim to be better than anyone."
[18:21] Shadowcaller: "You can go, its better that way…"
[18:21] Wolfbane: (For him to go with Happy?)
[18:21] Shadowcaller: (yes.)
[18:22] Wolfbane: Promise says thanks and goes to the tent.
[18:24] Shadowcaller: Cessie tries to find Aegnor
[18:24] Murska: Should be easy, he hasn't moved much from the fight.
[18:24] Happy: Happy is cleaning and binding her wound.
[18:25] Happy: Simone stalks off, her pride wounded by Aegnor's accusation (as she sees it).

[18:27] Shadowcaller: "Aegnor… what was that fight about?"
[18:27] Murska: 'A test of skill.'
[18:27] Shadowcaller: "Training then?"
[18:28] Murska: 'I guess you could call it that. I believe they just wanted to see which one was more skilled.'
[18:28] Murska: 'The test wouldn't stand up to a close examination due to differences between the situation and a real combat one, though.' *smile*

[18:29] Shadowcaller: "Well, I don't think I will understand that."
[18:29] Shadowcaller: *ever
[18:29] Murska: 'Many people are competitive, and even if they aren't, it's good training.'

[18:30] Shadowcaller: "But this was not real training, unless they trained for a situation were both combatants were not out to kill each other."
[18:30] Happy: (Oh yeah, Happy healed BS before she left.)
[18:31] Murska: 'They can't train with real battles, of course. That would result in a lot of casualties during training even if they were able to get themselves to it.'
[18:31] Shadowcaller: "It would be so much easier if magic could resolve such conflicts really, no one would need to die."
[18:32] Murska: 'If magic could somehow tell two fighters which one is more skilled, do you really think they'd trust the result?'
[18:32] Shadowcaller: "But sadly, not everyone have magic…"
[18:32] Shadowcaller: "No, but in wars I mean."
[18:33] Shadowcaller: "If all wars could be resolved by magic, no one needs to die."
[18:33] Murska: 'Except the enemy magicians?'
[18:34] Shadowcaller: "There are so many ways of dealing with opponents in a non-leathal way if you got magic."
[18:34] Murska: 'But in a fight between two equally powerful mages, the one who's willing to do anything it takes to win has the advantage.'
[18:36] Shadowcaller: "Not the way I'm teached."

[18:36] Happy: (Exhibit A: Noel)
[18:37] Murska: 'In such a system, the magicians would naturally be the leaders. And if someone is chosen as a leader over another based on nothing but an innate skill that they cannot affect, it grows resentment. It can easily lead to tyranny aswell.'
[18:37] Shadowcaller: "And besides, with magic, you can afford to leave the opponent alive."
[18:37] Murska: (Yes, this is false logic)

[18:38] Murska: 'And why is that? Magicians got so many ways of dealing damage to each other even if the other is more powerful in a direct confrontation… You would either have to imprison them, rid them of their magical talent or kill them.'

[18:38] Shadowcaller: "Bah, we had such a system in Hestopia for hunreds of years and there are no tyrants."
[18:38] Happy: (Suuuure)
[18:38] Murska: 'Are you sure? What do the normal villagers think of this?'
[18:38] Shadowcaller: (its true!)
[18:38] Happy: (like Miss Law and Order would recognize a tyrant)
[18:38] Murska: (yeah)
[18:39] Murska: (Repressive laws and following them too strictly lead to tyranny.)

[18:40] Shadowcaller: "I don't really know, I never met any of them, but we have a system to deal with "rogue" wizards."
[18:40] Murska: 'And what about those who operate within the boundaries of the law?'
[18:40] Shadowcaller: "Those are the ones they are meant to deal with."
[18:41] Murska: 'So there is a system that can take out people who have done nothing illegal?'

[18:42] Shadowcaller: "See, the Wichars watch over all our goverment bodies, if a wizard starts to claim too much power, he is hunted down… like Arik, but of a different reason."W
[18:42] Murska: 'And who controls these Witchars?'
[18:43] Murska: (or wichars… not sure)
[18:43] Shadowcaller: "They are separated from the rest of the goverment, they are contolled by a company of sort."
[18:44] Murska: 'And who stops them from going rogue?'
[18:44] Shadowcaller: "The wizards, its a balance of power really."
[18:44] Murska: 'And who decides which side is right in any given matter?'
[18:44] Murska: 'Your brother was hunted, as well as you. What did you do wrong?'
[18:45] Shadowcaller: "I… practiced dark arts."
[18:45] Murska: 'Right. Why is that wrong?'
[18:46] Shadowcaller: "Well, that is more of the wizards laws then the Wichars, and there was other reasons behind it too…"
[18:46] Shadowcaller: "But none of them should matter, I broke the law and took my rightful punishment."
[18:47] Murska: 'A society that is allowed to imprison people based on nothing concrete, check… A society where only people with a certain talent can affect things, check. A society where laws are followed above common sense, check…'

[18:48] Shadowcaller: "Hey, there was a trail, they can't just arrest anyone."
[18:49] Murska: 'So… they arrested us for what exactly… insulting an officer? Freedom of speech, anyone? Having money? Is that a crime? Knowing that a crime performed a long time ago was somehow related to someone with, based on hearsay, a vague resemblance on one of a group who had done nothing suspicious thus far?'
[18:50] Shadowcaller: "Those officers were not a part of the Hestopian law system."
[18:51] Murska: (I remember them saying something about Hestopia. Oh well.)
[18:51] Shadowcaller: (Well, they refered to thri homeland most likely.)
[18:51] Shadowcaller: *their
[18:52] Happy: brb
[18:52] Murska: 'Now then, let's take a hypothetical situation. Who decides the laws of Hestopia?'
[18:52] Shadowcaller: "The wizards and other nobles."
[18:53] Murska: 'All together? How exactly are the laws decided upon?'
[18:53] Shadowcaller: "Well, there are some basic rules that no one are allowed to change."
[18:53] Shadowcaller: "The rest of it are decided by votes."
[18:54] Murska: 'Even in a situation where one of those rules should be?'
[18:54] Shadowcaller: "The other rules are not allowed to interfere with the basic rules."

[18:55] Shadowcaller: "They are about details mostly."
[18:55] Murska: 'So, these basic rules are supposed to be perfect in every situation and unchangeable whatever happens?'

[18:56] Murska: (Hay, Selrahc is helping FFF no fair)
[18:57] Shadowcaller: "Well… as long as its possible yes."
[18:58] Murska: 'I'd like to hear a code of laws so perfectly created that it would never be wrong and could always adapt to whatever happens to the society itself.'
[19:00] Shadowcaller: "The basic laws are just there to guarantee that what you describe as "tyranny" dosnt happend."
[19:00] Shadowcaller: *dosen't
[19:00] Murska: 'I still don't believe in anything that could do that.'
[19:01] Shadowcaller: "So you are saying its better with no laws then?"
[19:01] Shadowcaller: "What kind of society did you live in?"
[19:01] Murska: 'No. But I don't believe in a system of rules that is unchangeable.'

[19:01] Murska: 'I never lived in a society.'
[19:01] Murska: 'After all, laws are just agreements of people. They're ignored by people whenever those people can do it without repercussions.'
[19:02] Shadowcaller: "See, the first rules a tyrannt would change are the unchangeable ones."
[19:02] Murska: 'So, do these basic rules prevent, say, a wizard gathering a strong following amongst his own and proposing a change that would limit the authority of the witchars?'

[19:04] Shadowcaller: "Well, yes, of course, while the basic laws can't be ignored, its possible to "tweek" them a bit."
[19:05] Murska: 'And then, let's say the witchars happen to be weaker than average as a result of, say, no people with magical talent being born for a while, a war, a sickness…'
[19:05] Murska: 'What's to prevent this wizard from pushing slowly even more drastic changes?'
[19:06] Shadowcaller: "You were the one who said laws should not be unchageable."
[19:06] Murska: 'I just said I don't believe in a set of laws that would help against tyranny.'
[19:06] Murska: 'If they indeed are restrictive enough to stop it, they're just ignored.'
[19:07] Shadowcaller: "Well, if they are ignored, they have broken them."
[19:07] Murska: 'And if they're powerful enough, there will not be consequences.'
[19:07] Murska: 'A law is nothing if it cannot be enforced.'
[19:08] Shadowcaller: "Well, nothing like that have happend for hundred of years, I doubt it would happend now."

[19:08] Murska: 'If something hasn't happened in the past, it's because it hasn't happened YET, not because it never will.'
[19:09] Shadowcaller: "You don't know the details Aegnor, how dare you judge a system you only know a few things about?"
[19:10] Murska: 'Because I know that no system is perfect.'

[19:10] Shadowcaller: "Well, yeah, so there should be no systems since they can't be perfect then?"
[19:11] Murska: 'No. I don't have a better option. But one should never delude oneself into thinking that a particular society or system will last 'because it always has''
[19:12] Shadowcaller: "Well, its better then anything I have been in."

[19:13] Murska: 'And, if you haven't met an ordinary peasant, how do you know it is better for them?'
[19:14] Shadowcaller: "Um… since the laws are there to help them too."
[19:15] Murska: 'And do they?'
[19:15] Shadowcaller: "I would think so yes."
[19:16] Murska: 'I hope so, for Hestopia's sake.'
[19:16] Wolfbane: (Sheesh, just stop arguing and make up already :P)
[19:16] Shadowcaller: (Bah, its not always so easy.)
[19:17] Shadowcaller: "Well, I think I can trust my own countrys system."
[19:18] Murska: 'You can, but don't be suprised if it lets you down.'
[19:19] Shadowcaller: "It never did, well until I broke the laws that is…"
[19:20] Murska: 'And you broke a law which shouldn't have been there, since you did nothing wrong. That alone is a bad sign.'
[19:21] Shadowcaller: "There was a very good reason for necromancy to be baned, people were misusing it."
[19:21] Murska: 'And that is why there should be laws against the misuse of necromancy, not against necromancy itself.'
[19:21] Shadowcaller: "Besides, its not exactly Hestopias laws, its the houses laws."

[19:22] Murska: 'Which take predecence over Hestopia's?'
[19:23] Shadowcaller: "All our wizards belong to one of the houses, and since the wizards rule among the nobles…"
[19:23] Shadowcaller: "Their laws are just about the usage of magic anyway."

[19:24] Murska: 'The fact remains that there existed a law that was followed and that was wrong.'
[19:25] Shadowcaller: "Well, I don't think so."
[19:26] Murska: 'That's fine with me. It's an just an useless exertation of both our brains anyway.'
[19:26] Murska: 'A duel, you could call it.'
[19:26] Shadowcaller: "A non-leathal duel."

[19:27] Murska: 'Indeed. But it might wound someone's pride.'
[19:27] Murska: 'Not in this case, however.'
[19:27] Shadowcaller: "Still a lot better then dying or getting wounded,"
[19:28] Murska: 'You'd think, but some people seem to behave otherwise.' *smile*

[19:29] Shadowcaller: "Eh, I just hope we can leave this place and come to a real city soon enough."
[19:30] Murska: 'I don't mind staying here or being in a city, as long as it's with you.'
[19:31] Shadowcaller: "I rather be with you in a city actually… but I guess your prescense makes this place liveable too."
[19:32] Murska: 'At least in a city I'll always have you to get me from trouble.' *smile*
[19:32] Murska: 'Arik told me some things about Kyou and the whole nation earlier.'

[19:32] Shadowcaller: "He did?"
[19:32] Murska: 'Yup. Said I shouldn't be too offended if someone tries to buy me or kick me out of an establishment.'
[19:33] Shadowcaller: "Err.. why is that?"
[19:33] Murska: 'Apparently the elves around there are commonly just low scum, willing to do anything for money.'
[19:34] Shadowcaller: "Thats.. sad, I always saw the elves as noble and powerful beings."
[19:35] Shadowcaller: "I never would imagine that they would sink so… low."

[19:35] Shadowcaller: (anything plotwise going to happend?)
[19:36] Murska: 'All beings do. I wouldn't think of my people as an exception.'
[19:37] Happy: (the wolfen are not going to attack, if that's what you mean)
[19:37] Happy: (they've been watching what's going on, and no one has done anything provocative)
[19:37] Murska: (Well, Arik has. :P)
[19:37] Murska: (not that they'd understand)
[19:38] Murska: (Got to go soon again. :/)
[19:38] Shadowcaller: (Yeah…)
[19:39] Happy: (:()
[19:39] Wolfbane: (aww…)
[19:39] Murska: (Stop 'aww'ing and start playing)
[19:39] Murska: (While I still can)
[19:40] Shadowcaller: "Hm, well I hope we can see it with out own eyes soon."
[19:40] Happy: (fast forward to departure then?)
[19:40] Shadowcaller: (If you like.)
[19:40] Wolfbane: (I don't care)
[19:41] Murska: (I'll be assuming Simone teaches me languages. I drop her all kinds of relatively useless pieces of 'wisdom', teach her the correct way to hold a knife in a defensive stance and help her with our Common a bit)
[19:42] Happy: (okay)
[19:42] Shadowcaller: (Cessie still trains her spells, hold person.)
